He (Mr Griffiths) felt that as that was the first public opportunity of meeting in that way, it was their duty to offer their sincere congratulations to Alderman Edwards upon having attained that distinction, and which his splendid record of ser- vice fully merited (hear, hear, and applause). Mr D|nriel Thomas (Clarempnt) in seconding, said they all desired to congratulate Mr Edwards upon that honour, for the splendid services he had rendered the whole of Rhymney, and the Lower Ward in particular for a period of thirteen years. It was a great pleasure to him (the speaker) to second the motion, and he thought they should at the same time tender them* warmest thanks to Alderman Edwards for the noble servical he had rendered the district (applause).—- Councillor Phil Lewis (Abertysswg) supported the motion which was un- animously adopted.
