Mr. Morris, in reply, said he was more at home in the trenches than I making a speech. He thanked the mem- bers one and all for the kind thought which prompted the gift. CORRESPONDENCE. II
CORRESPONDENCE. THE GLAMORGAN VOLUNTEER I TRAINING CORPS. To the Editor. I Sir,—It will probably be with the know- I ledge of the county generally that the War Office has accepted the offers of service of several units of the County Volunteer Training Corps, and that from them has been formed the Glamorgan Volunteer Regiment, composed of five battalions, which have their headquarters at various important centres of the county. Under the-new regulations, volunteers may offer their services to the Military Authorities, and officers and men of the Regiment are eager to undertake such duties as may be allotted to them. The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command, has also expressed a wish to make use of their services. It is necessary that before the Battal- ions can offer their services, they should be properly equipped and armed, and it is with a view of obtaining the money neces- sary to do this that I venture to make an appeal to the county. I have, therefore, decided to open a fund for this purpose, and appeal to the patriotism of the county to provide at least X10,000 in order that each of the five authorised battalions may be provided with the equipment necessary to enable them to perform in a. proper manner any duties which they may be en- trusted with by the Military Authorities. It is hoped that subscribers will contri- bute to a general fund which may be ap- plied to meet the needs of any battalion wanting assistance, so that an eqpal standard of equipment may be obtained throughout. It is, nevertheless, possible that some subscribers may wish their local battalion to have a prior claim on tl eir contributions, and if any such intimations are received with subscriptions, fhey vill be complied with. I gladly recognse the assistance a'ready given, particularly as it came at a tim? when the future of the Volunteer Move- ment was uncertain, and now that the War Office has given it a recognised posi- tion, I hope that the sympathy of the county may be still further enlisted. Subscriptions may be sent to me, which I shall be glad to acknowledge, or to The London and Midland Bank, Metro- politan Branch, Cardiff, or to any of its branches.I am, sir, Yours faithfully, PLYMOUTH. H.M. Lieutenant for the County of Glamorgan. St. Fagan's Castle, Cardiff. DID

IGELLIGAER S MUSICAL EVENT.…
I GELLIGAER S MUSICAL EVENT. I Thanks to thu enterprise of the Gelli- gaer. Soldiers' Reception Committee, an- other musical feast is promised the public of the district oa Monday, the 25th inet., when a grand evening concert will be given at the Church Hall, Gelligaer, with a view of augmenting this deserving fund. A high-class programme will be provided by Miss Gertrude Gronow's celebrated Concert Party, whose singing has capti- vated large audiences in almost every part of Wales. The eulogistic references which have been made by the Press to the mag- nificent singing of this admirably trained party justify us in saying that this will be one of the finest musical treats adver- tised in the. district for a considerable time. When it is stated that the concerts given by Miss Gronow's choir have been under the patronage of some of the most distinguished pe sonages. in the land, apart from the worthy object, it should ensure a bumper attendance at the Church Hall on the 25th into. Music lovers should keep this date open and secure tickets early. Popular prices of admission 1/6 (reserved), Is., and 6d. -:D:-
