LLANBEDR. Jumble Sale. — A very successful jumble sale was held at the Council School on Saturday, March 25tb, in aid of the Llanhedr Reading Room. The following ladies kindly aspisted:-lilus Dr. Wood, Mrs Rostron, Mrs Bever, Mrs P. L. Jones, Mrs Jones, The Rectory; Mrs H. D. Jones, Mrs Mason, Mrs Capt. Ellis, Miss Chipman, Miss Griffith, Miss Arthur, Mies Owpn, Brnn-M; MIBR Bever, Miss M. Evans, and Miss Jenny Davies. Amongst those who gave valu- able contributions were Mrs D. E. Davies, Mrs Hooper, Miss Patchett, Barmouth and Mrs Prys Owen, Aber- artro. Mrs D. E. Davies, Barmoutb, won the first prize in the draw. The proceeds were over R21. Obituary.—Great gloom was cast over the district by the death of Private William Lloyd, Gellirwaen, of the 3/7th Batt. R. W. F. stationed at Whitting- ton, near Oswestry. The sad affair took place at the Press Heath Camp Hospi- tal, Whitchurch, on Tuesday, March 28th. The funeral, one of the largest and most solemn ever held in the dis- trict, took place on Saturday, April 1st, at the Salem Cemetery, when the Rev. H. D. Jones and the Rev, Theo. Lewis officiated. Deceased was thirty years of age. He was a much respected young man and a most faithful member of Salem Baptist Church. Much sym- pathy is felt with the family in their sad bereavement. Deceased was a brother to Mr Richard Lloyd, Siloam Buildings, Barmouth. I
