For Coughs I¡ and Colds, Influenza &c.Adv, The Local Tribunal for the Barmouth area met for the first time at the Coun- cil Office on Tuesday evening last. Pre- sent:—the Rev. R. Lloyd Roberts, MA., RD., Mr J. Pryce Jones, J.P., Mr Edward Williams, Mr Henry Freeman, and Mr J. Jones, The Library. Mr William George attended and gave a lucid explanation of the function of the tribunal and the mode of procedure. The Rev. R. Lloyd Roberts was unani- mously elected chairman, Mr William George kindly promised to act as Clerk until a permanent Secretary would be elected. It was stated that many men in the town, of military age, who had signed their papers as willing to serve when their class was called up, were under the impression that they had satisfied the requirements, and would be looked upon as volunteers. Such notion is entirely erroneous. Any one who has not actually enlisted on or before next Saturday, will be reckoned as conscript. In fairness to ths men, it is only right that this should be made clear to them before it is too late. "LINSEED COMPOUND" for Coughs and Colds. Of proven efficacy. 9td" Illid., 2/9. Chemists only. -Adv. A Handsome Gift. Mr Owen Llewelyn Williams, Penrallt, has most generously presented the Barmouth Library with a complete set in nine volumes of "The Century Edition of Cassell's History of England." Each volume is beautifully boand-gilt edged, specially prepared for subscription, and not obtainable through the general Booksellers. The ground covered in English History is from the early period to the Coronation of Edward VII. The volumes are profusely illustrated with new and original drawings by the best Artists, as well as with reproductions in colours of historical paintings by famous artists. The books will be placed in the Coronation Cubpoard in the Reading Room where they can be conveniently oonsulted by the numerous readers who frequent the room. The Committee and the members generally are under a deep debt of gratitude to Mr Owen Llewelyn Williams for his kindness and practical support of the Institution. Art Picture House.—This popular place of amusement continues to be well patronised and the pictures shown this week are excellent. The musical part of the programme is' efficiently carried out by Mr W. H. Woodward, who is so well known and respected in the town. The following is the 8th Episode of the Master Key which will be shown on Thursday (to-night), Friday and Satur- day :—John Dore, however, is arrested as Pell's murderer. Ruth is left with old Tom. Mrs Darnell and Wilkerson at once scheme to get Ruth in their possession. A letter, purporting to come from Dore, is taken to Ruth by Drake, disguised as a cbaffeur. Being sus- picions, old Tom accompanies her in the taxi, and Drake drives to a deserted place, where Wilkerson threatens Ruth. Tom has Drake arrested. Wilkerson escapes. The deeds are discovered by the ashman, and these Wilkerson ob tains. Everett secures bail for Dore, and they hasten to the hotel. Here they meet Ruth and old Tom, who relate their experiences. The shock of losing the deeds causes Ruth to break down in health, and the doctor advises a trip to Los Angels. On the same boat, dis- guised, are Wilkerson and Mrs Darnell. Boy Scouts Association.—A meeting of the Committee of the Local Branch, presided over by Mr Thos. W. Piggott, J.P., was held on Tuesday, November .Both. There were also present; Mrs Gwynoro Davies, Mrs Roberts, Inveruga; Mrs O. W. Morris, Sir Edmund Buckley, Alderman T. Martin Williams, J.P., Mr R. W. Jones, C.C., Mr Rees Jones, Moss Bank Mr Ernest Lloyd, Mr J, S. Owen, N, P. Bank; and the Secretary. The minutes of the last meeting were read, confirmed and signed.—The Secretary reported that the Troop of 26 bad been divided into two patrols by the Scout- masters—with a patrol leader, corporal and buglar for each patrol.—The chief object of the meeting was to make ar- rangements for investing the boys with their badges and kit. The ceremony was to have taken place on Wed- nesday, December 8tb, but owing to another meeting to be held in the town on that date, it was resolved to hold it on Wednesday, the 15tb, Alder- man T. Martin Williams kindly under- took to arrange a half-holiday. The ceremony will take place at 2 30 in the afternoon, in the playground of tl)J3 Council School, weather permitting, but if wet, in the Belle Vue Hall. Ail parents and others interested in the boys are cordially invited to see the young Scouts being decorated by the District Commissioner. Sir Edmund Buckley has most generously arranged to entertain the boys to tea at the Belle Vue Cafe, after which a display of physical and musical exer- cises will be given.—On the motion of Alderman T. Martin Williams, it was de. cided to provide the boys with a foot- ball and two bugles.—The President (Mr T. W. Piggott) said that he was very glad to spe that the boys bad passed their examination for membership with such credit to themselves and to the Scoutmasters. He was also glad to hear •a very good report of the conduct of the boys, he very much hoped that their good example would influence the con- duct of the Barmouth children gener- ally. Most excellent work was done by Boy Scouts all over the country, and be hoped that the Barmoutb Troop would be second to none. Mrs Williams is at pre- sent staying with her sister (Miss S. Astley).
I -APPEAL.
I APPEAL. It is suggested that a Christmas Entertainment be given to the men of the 68th Welsh Division who are billeted in Bedford, to consist of a good evening meal of roast beef and plum pudding, with a Christmas or other entertainment to follow. Last Christ- mas, 14,000 Scottish Troops were similarly treated, and nearly all the necessary money (over £1000) was generously subscribed by the people of Scotland. It is thought that Welshmen wiji be pleased to follow this example, and so provide a link with home that will warm the hearts of the, Welsh Boys stationed in Bedford at Christmastide. Contributions may be addressed to Mr R. Llewelyn Ower at the Council Office, Barmouth. jg. s. d Mr J. Pryce Jones,J.P. 0 10 Mr William Owen 0 1 0 Mr D. E. Davies 0 1 0 Mr J.
