BARMOUTH COUNCIL I SPECIAL MEETING. I A special meeting of the above Council was held on Tuesday night. Present: Messrs. J. Pryce Jones, J.P. (chair- man); William Owen, Rhys Jones, D. 0. Hughes, Henry Freeman, J. Llewelyn Davies, Rees Jones, Robert Lloyd Williams and D. E. Davies: with Messrs. R. Llewelyn Owen (deputy-clerk); and T. R Parry (sur. veyor). REPAIRING OF ROADS. I The Surveyor reported that he could not obtain any larvia locally for the repairing parts of the Llanaber Road. Mr William Owen How many barrels would be required ? □The Surveyor-Six. Edward Williams said it was only throwing money away in repairing the roads if the steam roller was not en- gaged. The Chairman asked could the Sur- veyor obtain six barrels from away, or would he have to take more. The Surveyor said he would have to give an order for twenty barrels. Mr William Owen said the holes in the roads should be filled in first of all, and more care should be taken in the laying of the tarvia. The portion of the main road between the Catholic Church and Handlith Terrace was in a disgrace- ful state. He fait that more care should be taken with the ratepayers' property. Mr D. E. Davies said that this work should be done at the beginning of the summer and not in winter. It was the wrong time to do it now. If the road vMs passable, it would be much better to defer the repairing of the roads unti the spring. Mr William Owen said part of the main road was in a very bad state, Mr D. E. Davies asked was the road passable now. The Surveyor replied that the road was in a good condition, and the County Surveyor was satisfied with the work done on the main roads. Mr Rhys Jones—If the County Sur- veyor was ratisfied with the work, the Council could not go beyond that testi- mony. On the proposition of MrD.E. Davies, seconded by Mr Edward Williams, it was decided to defer the repairing of the Llanaber Road until the spring. On the proposition of Mr Henry Freeman, seconded by Mr Rbys Jones, it was decided that the Surveyor should fill in the holes in the road. CHIPPINGS ON THE ROADSIDE. I Mr William Owen said he thought I that all the chippings which were now on the roadsides should be catted down I to the Council's yard if the Surveyor bad no use for same. Mr Edward Williams said it was an awful thing to carry the stones down to the yard when the Council bad already paid so much money for the cartage of them. Really, he thought that it was time that the Council should economise somewhere. Mr D. E. Davies agreed with Mr William Owens' suggestion if the Sur- veyor had no use for the stones. The Chairman said there were many loads of chippings on the roadsides, and the property of the Council should be looked after. Mr Rbys Jones said that during dark nights people were falling across the stones on the roadsides. After all nothing was passed. — HATCH BOXES. Mr Henry Freeman drew attention to ahatch box, the property of beCouncil which was lying in te open near Llwynwcws. He quite agreed with Mr Edward Williams that it was high time for the Council to economise. These batch boxes bad cost a good deal of money to the Council. <9 On the propositian of Mr Rhys Jones, seconded by Mr D. E. Davies, it was decided that the Surveyor should fix the hatch box.
