GALLB.NTRY OF A SCHOOL BOY.
GALLB.NTRY OF A SCHOOL BOY. Last week, whilst some school child- ren were bathing near Ynys Giffton, ore of the lads got into difficulties. The other children gave the alarm and shouted that Hugh Williams was drown- ing, their shouts were heard by John Llewelyn, the young son of Mr J. J. Thomas, schoolmaster, Talsarnan, who ran with all speed and plunged after the unfortunate lad as he was sinking out of sight, and brought him safely to shore.—John Llewelyn Thomas, who is only 11 years of age, deserves all praise, and his gallantry ought to be brought to the notice of the Royal Humane Society.

Obituary.—Many of our readers will be sorry to learn of the death of Mr W, M. Griffith, late of the Gables,Barmouth, which took place last week at Liverpool. Deceased bad been staying in the town for some years and was well-known to a large number. The remains were brought over to Dyffryn for internment. Holiday Teaching and Tutoring.—Mr W. H. Terms and all particu- lars on application to Mr Woodward, Victoria Buildings, Barmouth. Barmouth Coronation Band. On Tuesday evening, the band played on the Parade from 8 till 9, to an appreciative crowd. There is no doubt but that the playing of the band is a decided addition to the attractions of Barmouth, and the town may well be proud of the fact that the bandsmen, who are workingmen of the town, can give 4such satisfaction. The remarks heard round the stand are very complimentary," and Mr Williams, the bandmaster, deserves the highest commendation on the success of his teaching during the winter months. On Friday the band will play on the open space in front of Epwottb Terrace, from 7.30 till 9, and on Tuesday night the band will play on the Parade from 7.45 till 9. Art Picture House.—Mr J. Walters, the enterprising managing director of the Art Pictures, has made an enviable reputation in Barmouth for showing tip-top programmes, and his patrons are able to enjoy the good fare provided at this up-to-date house under the most comfortable conditions. Mr Harry Jacobs, the musical director of this picture house, is justly noted for his musical selections. This week, Mr Jacobs excelled himself and his pro- gramme was one of the best we have beard for some time, the music for the pictures being particularly good. The star picture for the first part of this week being the Rex drama-" For the Secret Service"-and there was the usual Keystone comedy, with the well- known Charlie Chaplin in the role of the "New Janitor." For this week-end there is a powerful Kalem drama called -1 Tlae Lynbrook Tragedy" and two Keystone comedies. The management have secured for the August Bank Holi- day week the great 6-reel Keystone co med y- "Tillie' sPu nctu redRom ance"- featuring the well-known and only Charlie Chaplin. Another great attrac- tion for this week is the powerful drama Traffic in Souls "-6,000 feet long. These should surely prove a great draw. From our advertising columns it will be seen that for Saturday, August 7th for one night only, the celebrated Miss Vesta Tilley and a London concert party have been engaged. The Pavilion Box Office, for this special attraction, will be opened next Monday, and seats may be reserved any day during the hours of 11 to 13 to 4.30 and 7 to 9.30.
