Joining the Colours.—Mr Robert Edward Griffith, son of Mr and Mrs R, Griffith, Vulcan Villa, has joined the 7th Battalion Manchester Regiment (Territorials). Mr G. W. Price, Glasfryn House, and Mr Rees Pugb, Llys Arfor, who emigrated to Canada about three years, have joined a Canadian Batt. School Managers. The monthly meeting of the Barmoutb and District School Managers was held at the Caer- salem Schoolroom on Wednesday last, Alderman T. Martin Williams, J.P., pre- siding. It was decided to serve several parents with final notices as regards non-attendance of children at school. It was decided to recommend the two applications received for increase of salaries to the County Education Com- mittee. Mr John Roberts, Ripon House, and Mr Henry Freeman were appointed to deal with the matter of pioviding desks, now stationed at the Barmouth 4 Council School yard, which are to be a sent to the Cwmnantcol School. Siloam.—Last Sunday evening; at the Welsh Congregational Chapel, a Service of Song was held, the choir under the leadership -of Mr J. R. Thomas, Glan- morgan, gave a performance of the melodious cantata, Dan y Palmivydd (G, F. Root). The various solos, duets, etc., were taken by Misses Jenny Roberts, Nellie Roberts, Maggie Roberts, Lizzie E. Rowlands, Jenny Jones, Mary Evans, Blodweu Hughes, Jenny Garnett, Dora Jones, Mrs D. T. Roberts, Mrs D. 0. Hughes, Messrs Gwlym Jones, D. Walter Davies, John Milton, and Sergeant R. Rowlands. The accom- panists were Misses Neliie Roberts and Lizzie E. Rowlands, and Mr Isaac Davies. There was a crowded congte- gation, and they greatly enjoyed and appreciated the excellent singing both of the choir and soloists, &c. Much credit is due to the conductor for his careful training of the singers during the past season. All felt that the ser- vice was truly a means of grace.
