? THE PRICE OF PEACE AND -…
? THE PRICE OF PEACE AND GOODWILL. BY W. GLANDWR MORGAN. 11 Peace and Goodwill to men sang herald angels under the Syrian skies centuries ago. The Prince of Peace was ushered into the realm of man amid the tenderest solicitudes of the na- tural world-oxen and sheep would minister to Him in His manger cradle-the purest of mothers watched o'r her precious gift, while wise men and simple shepherds bowed in ad oration as they beheld the God heralded Babe. Born to save man-to reveal the God-Will to men—to shed the light of divine love into the darkness of human hatred. Yet this Peace-heralded Prince Babe, stirred the evil riven Herod who stained his soul with the blood of the" Innocents Peace, Prince of Peace, angel heralded blood bought Peace. In strong obedience to His parents He toiled amid the drudgery of life, and as the effulgence of Light possessed Him to the mystic, recluse Baptist said: "God herald of the Kingdom—the rites of thy rude ministry extend to me and at the baptism came the Dove of Peace to seal His goodwill mission. In the brief three years of His ministry, He awoke the dormant spirit of His nation to its divinely appointed work. His shadow healed the people-a New Hope burst out of Israel's smouldering embers. The Prince of Peace rode in tfrand triumph on an ass's colt to 'a P' G d 'II the Holy City, 9,"d to men, God peace was purchased by the shedding of His hearts' blood. The angel message still ring's through the ages and the Christ brings God-will to men and God peace, The twentieth century wades in blood. Our brave fathers and sons their life blood shed. Why ? Is it the Christ in His people seeking the peace and the goodwill of men ? The anti- Christ of militarism would trample the little ones of God in the mire of its steel lust ambi- tion. And at this Yule tide the murdered Innocents" of Bel- gium yea and our own coun- try cry to Heaven for redress. The struggle is fearful and long, but the Host of God- Mahanaim is with the Right. Truth must be vindicated. Victory will crown the brow of Ireace, and lead her in triumph to her Temple at the Hague.

IIB&RMOUTH LISTENS.
I I B&RMOUTH LISTENS. Barmouth listens when a neighbour spsaks, for there could be no more straightfolward, honest evidence than the word of one who lives here amo-ngs us. It is a Barmouth resident who speaks here. On January 80th 3909, Miss Dedwitb, of 8, Borthwen Terrace, Barmouth said" I have suffered a great deal from sharp, cutting pains in my back which used to come on regularly every day. Sometimes they were very severe and tantalising, just in the small of my back, and afterwards in my left shoulder. Ac times I was attacked by dixxi- ness, and I thought I would fall. I could not sleep well, and as can be imagined I was getting into a thorough- ly run down state. Reading of Doan's backache kidney pills and the good they were doing others, I determined to try them myself. I am glad to day I did so, for when I had taken nearly one box of the medicine I found myself altogether better. I had less trouble with my back, I could sleep better and the dizzy spells ceased to attack me. I got so well after a while, being free of kidney complaint, that I stopped taking Doan's backache, kidney pills, but I always keep a box of them handy in case of need. I am very gladto have this opportunity of testifying to their value. (Signed) C. Dedwith." 1 On Dec. 18tb, 1912-neai-ly three years later-Miss Dedwitb said I am pleased to say my health is indeed very good and I keep quite free of those trying pains I was subject to in my back." Price 2/9 a box, 6 boxes 18/9, of all dealers, or from Foster-McClellan Co. 8, Wells Street, Oxford Street, London, W. Don't ask for backache or kidney pills,—ask distinctly for Doan's backache kidney pills, the same as Miss Dedwith had.

,I THREE INCHES OF SNOW. l
I THREE INCHES OF SNOW. l The people of North Staffordshire, North Shropshire, and South Cheshire awoke on Monday morning to find the countryside covered with snow to the depth of from three to four inches. Snow fell heavily in North Wales, covering all the mountain passes. The frost was so keen in North-East Yorkshire that the meet of Lord Middle- ton's hounds, which bad been fixed for I Norton Grove, Malton, had to be aban- doned.
