BARIOUTH I Church Concert.—The Annual Church Concert will take place to-night (Thurs- day) at the Church Hall. Royal Magnets.—Co Friday evening last the Royal Magnets gave a grand Scotch night on the Front, and there was a record attendance. To-morrow night (Friday) the Royal }\1:agnets:wil: give a grand nautical night. f,I The Empire Serenaders— These popular Entertainers are drawing large audiences nightly. To-night (Thursday) there will be a grand New Revue. On Saturday night, the concert will con- clude with the sensational upside down dancing. Funeral.—The remains of the late Mrs David Charles Jones, Cambrian Street, were interred at Lianaber Churchyard, on Friday afternoon, the omciating minister being the Rev. H' Williams, B.A., omciating. The duties of undertaker were carried out by Mr Richard Roberts, Ivy House. Personal.—A communication was re- ceived yesterday by Mr R. Llewelyn Owen, Council Office, from the Rev. Gwynoro Davies, who accompanied by bis son (Mr W. Watkin Davies) paic a visit to the Continent just before the War broke out. We understand that Mr Davies is at present in Lauter- brunnen and unable to leave. Important to Visitors and :Residents, -Mr Rbys Jones, J P., chairman of the Urban District Council, has received the following telegram from the General Manager of the Cambrian Rail- ways Company All cheap bookings will be fully restored by Friday next by all Companies." Soldiers' and Sailors' Families Association. — Funds are urgently needed to carry on the work of the Association. Subscriptions will be igratefully. received by Mrs A. J. Obituary.—It is with deep regret we have to record the death of Miss Lizzie Jane Thomas, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert Thomas, 4, Church Place, which took place on Friday last at the early age of thirty-two. The funeral, which was private, took place on Monday afternoon at Llanaber Churchyard. The Rev. H. Williams, B.A., omciated. Mr Richard Roberts, Ivy House, acted as undertaker. Much sympathy is felt with the family in their sad bereavement. The War Fund.—Two of the most patient, energetic and successful collec- tors in Barmouth for the War Fond are the two gentlemen—"Mr Jim and Mr Polly," with Mr Mobley acting as their agent. Anyone passing along High Street can observe these ttwo de- votees on the wall opposite Mr Mobley's Fruit Shop. The one, "Mr Jim," sits patiently for hours together, holding a card in bis mouth soliciting subscrip- tions, while the other, "Mr Polly," calls the attention of passers by to the fact that any small donation will be thankfully received, and promptly for. warded to the proper quarters. In this way over seven pounds was subscribed in five days. Though these silent workers have not so much "gas" as their compatriots, yet their silent wist- ful looks plead eloquently on behalf of the cause they champion. It would be well for some of us to remember that "Actions speak louder than words." Building.—The contract for the erec- tion of a residence lat LIanaber for Mr Hooper has been let to Messrs Lloyd and Williams. Important Notice.—The Linen Shop in Beach Road will commence a sale to day (Thursday) on a!I goods which have to be cleared at lowest prices. AH the ladies dresses will be cleared at half price. A new stock of next season's furs will be on sale. County Relief Committee.—Mr D. E. Davies, St. Ann's Square, has been ap- pointed on the Merionethshire Local Relief Committee formed to consider the needs of the locality and co-ordinate the district of such relief as may be required owing to the War. Mr Davies has also been elected on the County Committee formed with reference to the Prince of Wales National Relief Fund. Barmoutb so far has but one represen- tative on these National and County Committees, and surely no better choice could have been made, and no appoint- ment couid have given more universal satisfaction. La Cinema de Barmouth.—With an enthusiastic and appreciative audiecce, the Art Picture House still continues to present most excellent pictures. The principal picture for the former part of the week was "The Three Little Orphans," a fine sensational drama, which was greatly admired by the audience. Great admiration is also shown of the high-class pieces which are being played on the piano by the clever young pianist (Miss Harriet Greenwood) which made the drama more striking than ever. "Shot in the Night," a narrative filled with thrilling episodes and which will hold the pre- mier position of an excellent programme, will be shown during the latter part of this week. Soldiers and Sailors Fund.—The drst and preliminary meeting of the Barmoutb local working committee for making garments and other necessities for our soldiers and sailors engaged in the European War took place last. Tues- day at the Belle Vue Hall, kindly lent for the purpose by Mr Francis Morris. Mrs Heath, Tynycoed, is the locat president, and there were many ladies present- both residents and visi tors. Mrs Heath explained that it was sug- gested to bold the meetings every Tues- day, at 2.15., to work during the week at home, to buy materials for making the following garments for which the Red Cross Society are particularly appealing — Shirts, socks, pyjamas, dressing jackets bandages, sheets, mgbtsbirts, etc., and to beg for sub- scriptions and donations towards the funds. A lot of the garments were p ut out and distributed, and next week the material for the bandages will have arrived and be dealt with. It is felt there must be many more ladies in the town who could perhaps help by makin g up at least one garment each, as it is impossible for the president to appeal to them all individually, Mrs Heath hopes that anybody who can find time to help in any way, and who has not already been asked to do so, will not hesitate to offer what services and time they can, either at the meetings or if they would prefer it in their own homes. It is arranged to hold a Sacred Concert on Sunday evening next at the Assembly Rooms, the proceeds to go towards this local fund. The tickets are now on sale, and can be obtained from Mrs Heath, and many other ladies and gentlemen.
