Death of the Hon. Mrs C. H.…
Death of the Hon. Mrs C. H. Wynn, Rug, Corwen. It is with the deepest regret we have to record the death, which occurred suddenly on Monday evening, of the Hon.Frances Georgiana, Wynn, widow of the Hon. C. H. Wynn, who predeceased her eight years ago. Deceased was the daughter of Col. Romer, Bryn Cemlyn, Dolgelley, and was born in Hong Kong about 62 years ago. The news of her sudden death came as a blow to the people of Corwen, where she was held in the highest esteem by all classes, es- pecially the poorer people, on whom she was lavish in her kindness, and who will ever re- member her many beneficent acts. Great sorrow is felt all over the town and district at the loss the countryside generally has sus- tained, and is being shown on all hands. The sympathy of all goes out to the sorrow- ing family in their great bereavement, The late Hon. Mrs. Wynn had led an active .-and strenuous life, as the following will show. She was District Representative of the Edeyr- nion Branch of the Women's Agricultural Association also on the Allocation and Selec- tion Committee for Women Land Workers for ,the County; she was President of the Corwen District Nursing Association for 24 years she was President of the local Red Cross Sew- ing Class during the War; also Hon. She was a good churchwomen, and an active church worker, and several years -a-go set the "finanees of Corwen Parish Church in order whilst acting as churchwarden. She interested herself in all social move- ments in Corwen and other parts of the county, .and during the war local soldiers had her to thank for many of the comforts they received. She; was patron of the Edeyrnion Agricultural Show and local and National Eisteddfodau, and her name was never absent from the sub- scription list of any good and worthy object. Although a sincere churchwoman, she was always most tolerant of the views of those who differed from her. She was never appealed to in vain for help of the sick and needy, and she will long be greatly missed. The deceased lady leaves eight children- five sons and three daughters-to mourn her loss. The funeral takes place on Thursday next at Bodvaen, Pwllheli. Quite a large number of intended workers at the place, from Glasgow and elsewhere, are seeking houses at Blaenau Festiniog, where many hundreds of houses have been empty for years owing to the great depression in the slate trade, which is now beginning to boom.

UNCULTIVATED DESERTS.I
UNCULTIVATED DESERTS. I Sir Owen Edwards has some cutting things to say about school buildings, particularly in the rural parts of Wales, some of the schools he says, are the ugliest, baldist and least com- fortable structures in the countryside, and the playgrounds are wild, uncultivated deserts. Should a passing stranger see such a building, enclosed within a high wall, the whole be- speaking a stale, impure atmosphere within, he can take it for granted it is neither a prison or chapel, but the place chosen by Welsh parents for the formation of the characters, aspirations and tastes of their children.
