CORWEN NURSING ASSOCIATION.I
CORWEN NURSING ASSOCIATION. The Annual Meeting of Subscribers was held at the Committee Room, Market Buildings Corwen, on Wednesday last, under the Pre- sidency of the Hon. Mrs. Wynn. The Secretary read the Report of the Committee which was as follows:— The Committee of the Association beg leave to submit their nineteenth report. Nurse E. Lewis has nearly completed her second year's engagement and has carried out her duties to the entire satisfaction of the Committee. The number of visits made by the Nurse was 2,451 and she was 20 nights on night duty. 135 cases were nursed (being one in ex- cess of the previous year), viz., medical, 74 surgical, 20; phthisis, 9 maternity, 32. Gifts of nourishment, old linen and other articles were received from members of the Committee and other ladies, to whom the thanks of the Association are tendered. The annual meeting of the North Wales Nursing Association was held at Blaenau Festiniog, in March last, and attended by your President. Amongst other matters dis- cussed was "Voluntary versus Rate-aided Nursing". A conference was subsequently held at Barmouth to deal with the question of School Nursing. It was proposed that £1 per School of 100 pupils or under, and 10/- for every add- itional 50, be paid to the Association for the services of the Nurse. The scheme has received the approval of the County Authority and the Board of Education and will come into oper- ation on October 1st. The Nurse will act under the supervision of a County Nurse. It is estimated that the Association will receive about Yll per annum. The first half-yearly payment of 12 10s from the Welsh National Memorial for the services of the Nurse in attending tuberculosis cases has been received. Continued interest, has, been m anifeated throughout the year in the possibility of ar- rangements beiag made for payment for the nursing of insured persons. The Institute, which has had the matter under consideration has come broadly to the conclusion that arrangements for the purpose would best be made through the Insurance Committee. The year started with a balance in hand of £ 25 9 10d., compared with JE38 4 3d. the previous year. Included in the first-mentioned sum is £ 20 taken from the Reserve Fund which has consequently been reduced to Y-49 5s. The true balance in hand was there- fore, L5 9s. 10d., as against fL33 4s. 3d. With a view of placing the funds on a more satisfactory footing, Sir E. Naylor-Leyland, supported by a distinguished party of ladies and gentlemen, last November, at the Assembly Rooms, kindly gave a rendering of a farcial romance bearing the title of "The Duke of Killicrankie." The proceeds handed over to the Association amounted to IC18 13s. Sub- sequently £ 15 2s. 9d, was realised from a "Pierrot" concert organised by Mrs. Davies. The cordial thanks of the Committee are tend- ered to the promoters of both entertainments. Notwithstanding that the ordinary income of the Association is less than the previous year the committee is grateful for the help given. It is probable that the present deplor- able war ou the Continent, in which our country is unhappily involved, may result in money stringency, but the Committee earnestly appeal to all subscribers not to penalise district nursing. The work must go on the necessity for it is ever increasing. The Committee acknowledge its indebted- ness to the collectors for their invaluable aid, and the two Secretaries (Mr. Lloyd John, and Miss Appleton, ) without whose great help the Association could not be carried on. The Statement of accouuts was then sub- mited to the meeting and the President pointed out that but for the help received from the two Entertainments a serious deficiency would face them. This should not be something would have to be done to insure the income. The formal adoption of the Report and Statement was then moved by Mr. Morgan and carried unanimously. The Hon. Mrs Wynn for the nineteenth time was re-elected President, and Mrs Lloyd, Vice President. On the motion of Mrs. Clarke a vote of sympathy with Mr. E. O. V. Lloyd, in his continued indisposition was passed. Mr. Lloyd was a good iriend of the Association and had always hitherto attended the Annual Meetings.

ARAETH Y GWIR ANRHYD. D. LLOYD…
Araeth Mr. LLOYD GEORGE. [Parhad o tudalen 1.] Germani ? A oedd wedi peri niwed ago yr oedd yn rhaid i'r Kaiser ei unioni ? Yroedd Belgium yn un o'r gwledydd bychain di- dramgwydd yn Ewrop. Yroeddyn heddych- ol, diwyd, cynnil, a gweithgar, ac yn achosi trwbl i neb. Y mae ei chaeau yd wedi eu sarnu. Y mae ei phentrefi wedi eu llosgi i'r llawr. Y mae ei thrysorau wedi eu dinistrio. Y mae ei dynion wedi cael eu llofruddio, ie, ei merched a'i phlant bach hefyd. Pa beth a wnaeth ? Y mae cannoedd a miloedd o'i phobl--eu cartrefi glan a destlys wedi eu llosgi yn Ilwch-yn crwydro eu gwlad yn ddi- gartref. Beth yw eu trosedd ? Eu trosedd vw eu bod wedi ymddiried yng ngair I Brenm Prwsla. Nis gwn beth y mae r Aaiser yn ddisgwyl gyrraedd gyda'r rhyfel hon. Y mae gennyf rhyw syniad beth a gaiff. Ond y mae wedi gwneud un p'eth un sicr-na chyf- lawnir y trosedd yna gan yr un genedl yn y dyfodol. Nid wyf yn coelio popeth sydd yn ■cael ei ddweyd y mae yn ddigon i ni ddi- hynu ar yr hyn a dynghedir. a addefir, a am- ddiffynir, ac a gyhoeddir gan y Germaniaid eu itunain-y llosgi i'r llawr, y llofruddio, a Baethu i lawr bobl ddiniwed. Paham ? Oher- wydd, yn ol stori y Germaniaid, eu bod wedi tanio ar y milwyr Germanaidd. Ond pa fus- ils oedd gan y Germaniaid yno o gwbl. Kid ar Belgium yn unig yr ymosodir ar hyn o bryd. Ymosodir ar Serfia. Nid yw hanes Serfia yn ddifrychau. Bydded i'r genedl sydd yn ddi- bechod daflu carreg at Serfia-cenedl wedi ei disgyblu mewn ysgol erchyll. Ond enillodd e: rhyddid gyda dewrder anarferol, ac y mae wedi ei gynal gyda'r un gwroldeb. Y mae g,lll Rwsia barch neillduol i Serfia; y mae g.mddi ddyddordeb arbennig yn Serfia. Y n ae'r Rwsiaid wedi colli llawer o waed dros annibyniaeth Serfia droion. Y mae Serfia yn UIt o'i theulu, ac nis gallai oddef ei gweled yn cafl ei chamdrin. Dyna hanes cenedloedd bychain. Y mae'r byd mewn dyled mawr i ilfeiiiiedloedd bychain-ac i ddynion bychain hefyd. Ùeth am Brydain ? Ewch i Groeg, i Nether- laiui, i Itali, i Germani, i Ffrainc-yn yr holl wkdydd hyn gallwn ddangos i chwi lie y mae meii> Prydain wedi rhoddi eu bywydau i lawr dns y gwledydd hyn. Y mae Ffrainc wedi aberthu dros wledydd eraill. A allwch enwi unrhyw wlad y mae Prwsia ddiweddar wedi abejthu dros yr un bywyd ? Gw-i isoch yr araeth hynod oedd yn y "British Weekly" yr wythnos hon. Y mae yn ddan- ghowiid hynod o'r ysbryd ag y rhaid i ni ym- laoil yn ei erbyn. Dyma ei araeth i'w filwyr ar en Ifordd i'rffrynfc; "Cofiwch mai y German- ial d •> uyw pobl etholedig Du w Arnaf fi.-arnaf fi rel yr Ymerawdwr Germanaidd-y mae Ysbrvd Duw wedi disgyn. Y fi yw Ei erfyn, Ei gieddyf, a'i ddewin. Gwae i'r anufudd. Angau i'r llw riaid a'r anghredinwyy." Ni fu tebytr < hyn er dyddiau Mahomet. Aeth y Ganghellor ymlaen, a dywedodd ei fod yn int-ddwl fod Kaiser a'i wyr yn canfod eisoes eu bod wedi gwneud camgymeriad, ac yr oedd hner milwn o ddyuion ieuainc Prydain eisoes wedi addunedu i'w Brenin y croesent y mor, ;ic y lluchient yn ol y dirmyg a roed yn erbyn Prydain, ar faes brwydr Ffrainc a Germani ac os y bydd arnom angen haner mih w n avail ie'u cawn. Dywedodd ymhellach yr hofini weled y Cymry yn dangos gwerth eu defuydd yn yr ymdrech fawr hon yn Ewrop :;c yr oeddynt am wneud hynny. Yr oedd ef yn cenfigenu wrth y bobl ieuainc. Yr oedd oed ran y fyddin wedi ei godi, ond yr oedd yn ddrwg ganddo ddweyd ei, fod wedi t i h o nifer dda o flynyddoedd tu hunt hyd yn oed i'r oed ran hwnw. Yr oedd yn gvfJu rhagorol-cyfle na ddeuai ond un- waitli mewn canrifoedd. Yr oedd yn rhyfel fawr i n-ndhau Ewrop o gaethiwed milwr- iaeth, oedd wedi rhoddi ei gysgod dros ddwy genhedlae'h o ddynion, ac yr oedd yn awr wedi taflu y byd i ymdrabaeddu mewn gwaed.
