As announced in anoiher column the death took place on Tuesday last, July 21st, at his residence, 55, Fitzroy road, London, of Dr James Herbert Walker, son of Mrs Walker, Corwen, and brother to Dr. H. E. Walker of this town. Deceased took his degree at Keble College, Oxford, and afterwards went to University College, London, and qualified M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P., Eng. He then came to Corweo. and was for some time in practice with his brother here. Eventually he became engaged to a London lady, Miss Pahud, married, and settled down in the capital. After a time he took up the study of Egypt- ology, became assistant Professor and Lecturer of Egyptology at University College, Honor- ary Secretary of Egyptian Research Associ- ation, and Curator of the Museum, also a member of the Society of Biblical Archaeology. He was to have come down here on a visit to his relatives this week, but-" the best laid schemes of mice and men gang aft aglay "it was not to be, for in boarding a motor omnibus he strained Limself so severely that he sustained an internal injury, leading to his death within a few hours. The funeral took place in London on Friday, the 24th insL A funeral service was held at St. Mark's, Regent Square, conducted by the Vicar and Curate. The chcral service was beautifully rendered by the boys of the choir, in the presence of a large congregation composed of Dr II Walker's many friends, and of the Associations and Institutions with which he was connected. The second portion of the service was conducted at the graveside by the Vicar, in Highgate Cemetery. There were a large number of very beautiful floral tributes covering the coffin and disposed out- side and around the hearse. Sale of Property.-Ou Tuesday last, at the Owen Glyndwr Hotel, Corwen, Mr R J Chapman of the firm of Messrs David Roberts & Son, Auctioneers, Corwen, offered for Sale by Public Auction, the Freehold Villa residence known as Bodlondeb, Maerdy, in the occupation of Mr David Jones as tenant. There was a fair company of interested parties. The bidding commenced at £ 250 and the residence was eventually sold for £ 4-60 to Mr Ellis Daviea, Bala. L. Maluriwvd un beisycl modur yn ofnadwy. Owen Glyndwr Hotel.- Considerable structural alterations are being carried out at this interesting and ancient hotel, where a new Cafe is in course of erection. The alter- ations aro carried out by Mr W F Humphreys, contractor, from the plans of Mr Aneurin Foulkes Jones, architect. No doubt, the acquisition of a Cafe in such a central spot of the town will prove a great boon to the locality.—We understand that extensive alter- ations are to be carried out at the London City and Midland Bank. The plans for these alterations are being prepared also by the above named architect. Circus.- —As will be seen from our advert- ising columns, that Mr E H Bostock's great Italian Circus will pay a visit, for one day only, on Thursday next, July 30th,. The programme will be a very attractive one, as the Circus will the largest that ever visited Corwen. 1\0 one should miss this, but take the splendid advantage and opportunity thus offered them.
