Funeral.—The funeral of Mr. Hugh Evan Davies, of Hill Street, Shrub Hill (eldest son of Mrs Wenlock, Ty'nddol, Corwen), took place last Tuesday, 16th July, at Astwood Cemetery, Worcester. He was only in his 41st year, and passed peacefully away in the Infirmary from pneumonia, after a very brief but severe illness. Deceased was highly respected and well-known amongst a large circle of friends and acquaintances, having been resident in Worcester nearly 20 years, and for the greater portion of that time he was at the G.W.R. Works at Shrub Hill as an engineer. He had been employed also at the Nevile Engineering Works and later at the Heenan and Froude's Works, Shrub Hill. The chief mourners were Mrs Davies (widow), Edward, William, and Netty (children), Mr and Mrs Wenlock, Corwen (mother and step- father), William Davies (Chester), Bert Davies (Swansea), and Ernest Davies (Chester) brothers, Florence Williams (Corwen) sister, Mrs R Lee (mother-in-law), Mr R A Lee, Mr E T and Mrs Lee, Mr W and Mrs Loynes, Mr G W and Mrs Lee, Mr and Mrs Rookes: Mr G and Mrs Riley, Mrs Sanders, Miss May Coombs (niece), Mr R Loynes (nephew), and Miss Clara Thomas. A large number of wreaths were sent, including the following:— From his Loving wife," from the child- ren," "Mother, Dad, and Flo" (Corwen), Will and Mary (Chester), Bert and Teddie," Annie and Ernie," Uncle Williams (Newtown, Montgomeryshire), Mr and Mrs R Lee, Mr E T and Mrs Lee, Mr G W and Mrs Lee, Mr R A and Mrs Lee, Mr and Mrs Rookes, Mr W, Mrs and R Loynes, Mr George and Mrs Riley, Herbert, Frances and Flo Foster," Mr B and Mrs Sanders," A token of respect from his fellow work- men," Free Gardeners Friendly Society," Mrs W Harris, Mrs Poulton, Mr and Mrs Griffiths, Clara and Gerard," A token of respect, Customers of Crowle House," Mr J Thomas, Mr and Mrs Tolley, Mrs Badgery and family, Mr and Mrs Hunt, A few girls from Thompson's," Mr and Mrs Carter and family, and M Thompson." The deepest sympathy is extended to all the family in their sad beravement.
