JI, Illustrated Lecture.- Yesterday evening Y eF3ter d ay e vening (Monday) at the Union Workhouse, Corwen, Councillor Robert James Jones, Primavera, delivered a lecture on Columbia," which was immensely enjoyed by the inmates and the invited guests that were present. Mr. Jones has lived in Honda, Columbia, for nearly twenty-six years, and has taken prominent part there, especially during the stirring times of the revolution a few years ago, when he was captured by 500 rebels and placed by a tree to be shot at, and was only rescued in the nick of time by the Governor of Columbia, who was a personal friend of Mr. Jones (the photo of this particular tree was shown on the canvass) this narrative caused quite a stir amongst his listeners and they much applauded his miraculous escape. Continuing the lecture, Mr Jones created roars of laughter when he explained a photo of the natives buying and selling meat fey the yard. The pictures were shewn by lantern (manipulated in a skilful manner by Mr. Jones, stationmaster, Gwydd- elwern) illustrating the country and its products, its people their life and customs. Honda is situated 6,000 miles distant from Southampton, England, and Mr R. J. Jones has been there and back ten times—a total of 20,000 miles. A hearty vote of thanks to Councillor R.
