I POtfTAMAVE COOMCIL I The fortnightly meeting of the Pontardawe Council took pliict1 on Thursday, when Mr Herbert Gibbon, J.P., presided. He was supported by Messrs. Hy. Thomas (vice-chairman) Wyndliam lie wis (clerk); J. Morgan (engineer); A. E. Fxlmumls (sanitary ins{>eotor;; and Noah L. I)avie« (depti, ty olerk). Mr HieluLrd Tliomuis raised the matter with reference to open space at Clydach. The site referred to was the triangle opposite Ctl)el Buildings, and the Parish Council wore in agreement OIL the matter, as the site would bo very suitable for thv erection of a. war memorial for fallen heroes. Mr. Thomas stated that the site was a bout to be taken for a chapel, but he felt that the chapels already in Clydach were far from being filled. Mr L. W. Francis spoke strongly in favour of acquiring tllo site, as it wLs most suitable for a memorial. lu was dt-cidcd to ask the Parish Council to take the' initial stops, and that tlie District Council should fol- low up in the matter. Mr L. W. Francis moved a resolu- tion to the effect that in view of the forthcoming visit of the Prihie Minister to South Wales, tliat the Council should take steps to present an ad- dress to the Rt. Hon. D. Lloyd Georgo in appreciation of his great services to the State. Capt. F. R.
