Mills, painter and decorator, Railway terrace, Alltwwn, met with a rather serious accident last week-end, while oarying out a contract • at the Old Reading Room, Pontardawe. Mr Mills fell from the top of a ladder, a dis- taraoe of about 30 feet, breaking his cright ann and left anklc-. We hope he will have a speedy recovery. The funeral of the late Mrs. Alie.e Lowis, All-tvcl-taini road, who died last week at the age of 54, after a long and painful illness', took place on Saturday at St. Peter's churchyard. The funeral was attended by gentle- men only, and the Revs. Joel J. Davies and J. Williams officiated. A presemtatibn m-eeting to Sapper Robert Preece, R. E., of Swansea road who recently came home from France, took place at St. Peter's Schoolroom on Tuesday, ,the 19tll ult., when the Rev. J. Williams presided. On Wednesday evening at Alltwen Chapel, the Rev. Ben Davies, Pajit- teg, lectured on "Barddoniaeth Wat- cyn Wyn," under the auspices of the Young People's Society. The Rev. W J. Rees presided, and Mr Davies' lec- ture, which was ably delivered, was thoroughly enjoyed. A lecture will be given shortly at Alltwen in aid of Mr Morgan Rees, when the Rev. J. J. The lecture was thoroughly enjoyed, and a large number of disabled sold- iers and sailors attended. A highly interesting lantern lecture was given at the Mission Hall on Wedne^dav evening, when Mr B. The Blue Boys' Concert. I All who know anything of the Glan- rhyd and Infirmary Hospitals at Pont- ardawe, will agree that the St. John AmbulUnee Association deserves every support, both moral and financial, for the excellent work it is doing for those who have braved so much for freedom and for all that Britain's homes oon- vey to mind. Nor do the soldiers them- selves lack appreciation for what is being done for them during convales- cence; and in order to help in the good work, and benefit those who may follow them, they have organised a concert party amongst themselves. On Saturday, March 9th they will appear at the Public Hall, Pontardawe and the following Monday evening at the Coliseum, Ystalyfera. Not only will the whole of the richly varied pro- gramme be carried out by the Boys in Blue, but also all the arrangements connected with the concerts will be managed by them. It will be their un- aided contribution to the. St. John Am- bulance Association. Already at Pont- ardawe the tickets are being offered for sale, and eagerly bought; and next week parties of the Blue Boys will visit Ystalyfera and Ystradgynlais, with the same object. They may be assured of a warm and substantial welcome.

YNYSMUDWY. « A musical service was held recently at St. Mary's Church in connection with the Sunday-school. The following took part: Recitation, Mr. WiUie Stead; solos Davies, • Miss Doreen Steadman, Miss Dorothy Evans, Miss Mary Lewis, Miss Sarah Evans, Waencoed, Miss Sarah Stead- man, Measrs. Rees Price, Emily Mor- gan, Mr. Geo. Steadman and party, and the Rev. T. W. Jones, who also conducted the service. Mr. G. A. Evans presided at the organ. The funer:il of the late Mrs. Ann Williams, Old-road, took place at the Parish Church on Tuesday, and was largely attended. The Revs. T. W. Jones and John Williams officiated at the house and church. Lieut. T. J. Evans, Labour Batt., Oswestry, has been home on leave, and Lanoe-corpl. Roger Thomas (Forest Villa) is home from France for 14 days. Lieut. Stanley Griffiths, R.F.C., also visited his. home last week.
