John Edward Griffiths, pastor of Aino i Chayxd, and one of the oldest ministers of the Baptist dcuo»iination. Born ai Frun. Llangollen, in 1841. he coir- ineneed to preach at Penyeae, Ruabor. and <>ntered Llangollen Baptist Co=- lege in 1867, then under the charge Ci the celebrated Dr. Hugh Jones. He was ordained in 1870 to the joint pas- torate of Swyddffynnon and Pontrhyc fendigaid Churclu's, Cardiganshire. H- came to Skewen in 1874. and two later was instrumental in establishing a new Baptist cause at Birchgrovc. After a long period of faithful service at Skewen he decided to confine hiir- :-<df to che.ehurch at Birehgrov.e, an he was pastor there for an iinbroke:1 perioo of 47 years.
