A big crowd Boon filled the building, and the sale went on merrily, while the children screamed with de- light at the sight of "Father Xmas" walking about with a bag of toys slung aecrOfft his shoulders. In the bread competition the firet prize (a table- cloth, given by Mrs. Nelson) wae won by Mrs. Wm. Matthews; the second prize was awarded to Mrs. Dd. Wil- liams, Myrtle Hill. BHYHAIWAW- An Eisteddfod in connection with the Brynamman United Soldiers and I Sa.ilo.rs' Society was held at Gibea Cliapel on Saturday. In all reapectB it was an unqualified success. The talent of the valleys was there in an excep- tionally brilliant quality, reaching a high standard. The president of the morning session was the Rev. W. D. Thomas, Gibea, whilst in the afternoon owing to the regrettable absenoe of Mr. N. H. Thomas, London, the chair was 'taken by Mr. T. M. Evana, Am- manford. The Rev. Evan Daviee, B.A., Cwmgorse, in his usual, racy mannerx oonducted the proC4>edings. The musi- cal 4ttema, which were unnusualiy heavy, were adjudicated in the testa by Messrs. Tom Morgan, Brynamman and W. Pejacrug Jones, Cwmgorse, and •in the final by Mr T. J. Rees F.T.S.C. Morriston. Rev.
