NEWMARKET. TEST CONCERT.— On Saturday evemdng a test OO11œort. in connection with the Congrega- tional Chapel was held in the Memorial Hall. The chair was occupied by Mr W. Conwy Bell, J.P., RhuxMan. The adjudicators were: — Music, Mir D. R. Jones; -recitations, the Rev. Ben Willdams, Prc-slatyi?; and the acconipajiistb, Mr W. Nuttatl. Mr *J. Roberts, Gwaenysgor, conducted. Nine entered for the challenge sok), and! the prize of 50s was divided between Mr Evan Lewis, Cajvel Ourig, and Mr Frank Nicholson, Gwespjnr. In the soprano solo com- petition, there were five entries, and a prize of 15s was won by Mrs Joscjihino Lewis, Capel Curig. In the male solo owxiTxAdtion, a sdmil-ar number competed, and the prize was awarded Mr John Roberts, of Conmah's Quay. The chil- dren solo prize was won. by M'astor Percy Jones, of Rhyl. In challenge recitation competi- t,i-On the prize was divide between Mx James Darcy, of Fiynorigr-oew, and Mr John Hughes, of DyBerth. Th-i prize for rocatatiogi for those urnfor 16 was also eeouired by Master Percy Jones. The usu-al vote of thanks was proposed by the Rev. S. Thomas. The seoretairi-ai dtatios were ably disdharged by Mr Ed. H. Jones.
