THE PIERROTS" "SPECIAL.T.bere are ooimparative'y few visitors in the district just now. Nevertheless, the Pjearo-w are doing good business, a fwb which is entirely due to the ex- o&l'joaoo and va-riety of their programmes, the enterprise of the management and the sound talent of the troupe. On Monday evening there was an audience worthy of mid-season, and the concert was really enjoyable. Amongst a bad- glet of good things were five songs by the tireless, ever-welcome Frere, whose clever inter- pretation of the ozdl favourite "Bed" (by re- quest) was in itself ivePI wort:h the admittance fees. "Mr Moon Man" by Sid Triokett and the troupe was also exceedingly effective. One of the features of the entertainments is the ac- complished work of Seed, tho pianist, whose sympathetic and skilful aooompanimeint affords a leascM in tihe accompanist's art. The manage- ment call attention to a sjeciai concert on Sat- urday evening next, wilien, in addition to some new iruumbers by the troupe, Mr Thanniey Dodge, who needs no introduction to Colwyn Bay a/udljorsocs, wild give some of his humorous turns. Mr Jones came to Oolwyn Bay from a Liverpool pastorate about eight years a,go, and during reoent years he has made a good reputation for himseflf a3 a preacher. Am address delivered by him at the Welsh Baptist Union in South Wales a few months ago impressed the Union leaders so moioh that they urged liiim to publish it, and the little booklet ran into a second edition in tiinee weeks. The rate was daily levied and collected for this purpose. Last March, at the tnienaial election, The constitution of the Council was changed, with the result that, instead of the Junction having six representatives, they have now only three, namely, M'esars David Jones, James Davies, a.nd J. H. Irlam; wihilsft the rural portion of the parish have eight mem- bers. Consequently tho representatives of the largest rate-paying portion of the parish are out-voted. At a meeting of th? Council, lneld on Fri.day evening, it was decided not to purchase the fire extinguishing appliances for the Junction. Mr James Davies pro- tested against this. The position is a serious one. Lla.ndudno Junction is a. rap;!dy-grow- ing town. It contributes the largest portion by far of the Tates of the parisli, and con- sists of much valuable property. The Con- way Fire Brigade Conmittee have decided that their brigade shall not go out of the borough without a guarantee of paym-ent from the Rural Council, who have d-cel-ined to give such guarantee. The Parish Coun- cil have the money an hand exprasslv col- lected for providing appliances. And, yet, the newly-elected Council havcdccidcd to de- vote that money to some other object. It it to be hoped that the 100a.1 Rat-pnly.m, Association will justify their existence by taking the matter in hand and demanding their right."
