Williams, R. J. Buchanan, and K. W. Montgarret. The financial statement for the past year sliowed a credit balance of je57. A report dealing with the work of the organisation was received from the Branch Council and adopted. Drs. E. D. Evans (Wrexham), John Evans (Carnarvon"), Richard Jonea (Blaenau Fcstiniog), R. A. Prichari, and H. Jones Roberta wwe re-elocted to represent the branch on the governing body of the North Wales University Commit tea GROUPING OF WELSH BRANCHES. Reference was made by the Secretary to the group- ing of the. three Welsh branches for the purpose of representation on the Central Council which had had the effect of depriving the North Wales branch of a separate repreeenlation lIB before. He certainly thought that the branch itself was entitled to one representative. The President a'so expressed disappointment with the effeot of grouping the branches, but pointed out that the Council was determined to nominate a re- presentative whether he had a chance of being elected or not. On behalf of the Council he moved that Dr. Jones Roberts be nominated. The proposal was sec- onded and unanimously carried. Dr. Lloyd Roberts also called attention to the de- sirability of having a Welsh committee attached to the central association on the lines of the Irish and Scottish oonnniiWeea, to look after purely Welsh mat- ters; and on the motion of the Secretary, it was de- ckled to seek the oo-operation of South Wales with the view of petitioning for a Welsh committee. PAPERS. Papers on professional subjects followed by Drs. Mills Roberts, Ruehton Parker, Jones Roberts, Hill lAibnun, R. J. M. Buchanan, K. W. Montgarret, J. Howell Evans, and O. T. Williams.

NEW LIGHTING SYSTEM FOR ABERGELE PARISH CHURCH. The annual vestry was held at St. Michael's Ohawon, Aber,-ele, on Monday morning. liligo V'joa.r (Rev. T. Jones, M.A.) presided over an exoeliiemfc attendance. Mr Churchwarden Pieroo submitted an ap- proximate statement relative to the past year's aoooiuxts, which showed a. deficiency on the year's working of about £ 20. The Yioar said the wand ens would be aide in auwe"°k: or two to maJce a clear statement as to the aooounts. The munificent donation, £ 50, of tile Rev. B. Jonea-Bateman towards im- provjnig- the Parish Church had boen into the wianaiens aooount, and that work would shortly be undertaken. He (the Vioar) hopod to have the Church cleaned down and the roof vwiitened, but oare would be tadian to preserve the anc-eait character of t.he building. In addi- tion, the face of the clioak in the tower would be re-gilded. He aJso proposed to repiace the lights tlkroug-hout the tHnuroh witli incandescent burners. The Vicar then moved a oopdjal vote of thanks to the voluntary workers for their services—the wardJens, sidesmen, the members of the ETIL; !isji a.nd Welsh choirs, the Sunday Sonool teachers, and the bell-ringers. Mr Gilo* R. Griffith, J.P.. seoonded, and this was passed. On the motion of Mr Hannah, seconded by Mr Piaroe. it was decided that the accounts be auditedi, printed and oircuiated. A vote of thamk4- on the motion of Mr S. H. Harrison, was accorded to the wardens (Messia John Hannaih and John Pierce) for their services. Both were reappointed Mr Hannali as vicar's warden, and Mr Pierce aa parish warden. The following- were appointed sidesn)en:-For St. Michael s Church: Messrs J. Williams, Harp Hotel; H. Reviewing the wonk of the Churah in the parish during- the past yea.r, the Vicar said he was exceadmgly pie«aised with what haod been aocompiimhed. The congregations had been most encouraging. and during the winter a new feature, namely, the services for men on Sun- day afternoons, had been introduced. Thtesa had been moat successful a.nd productive of much g-ood. inasmuch as they bound those who attanded them more alosely to tlhecr dear Uhuncih. He had, been particularly pleased to notice how well the holy week servioes had been attended both at the Parish Church and St. (David's Churoh, and that on Easter Day the number v/ho oomnumicated had reaohed 302. In oonckision, the rev. ge-ntieruram thanked the congregation for their warm appreciation of his eervioes, which w.a.3 indicated1 by their liberal offerings on the preuous day, tlhe amcunt being- close upon B29. Mr Giles R. Griffith, who was re-appointed lav delegate to the Diooesan Conference re- ferred briefly to the quest-ion of Disestablishment and LXlsendowment—quesition^ which, he said, were very near the hearts of all who loved the Church* He oould not quite realise why gen- tlemen of education, living on the spot, worked so assiduously to bring about those measures. Opponents of the Church placed fair too muoh emphasis upon the past history of the Welsh Church, and upon facts such as "that a former Bishop of St. Asaph held sixteen livings in ad- dition to the see." The author of an interest- ing work had said that North Wales glittered with ohurches as the firmament with stars, and to-diav the work being carried an by the QhiiiatSh "wag .baiih .greivt and important. He (the speaker) warned- his fellow Churchmen that whatever invective or vituperation was uttared by tibeir opponents upon those vexed questions, not to deaoend to auah methods, but to set them an example by viewing the questions from the highest hI-eo plane (applause). On the motion of Mr Griffith, seconded by Mr Perking, the clergy were 'heartily lihanlced for their- able and efficienc sen ioes during the year. THE LATE ARCHDEACON EVANS. PROPOSED MEMORIAL. Me Perkins moved that a vote of oondolence be passed with Mrti Walton Evans and family in thfcr berea.vement by the death of the Ven. Arohdeacan, a former Vioar of Abergele, where he laboured for twenty-one years with consider- able success. Mr -Hannah amd Mr Henry Edwards sup- ported, and tfue motion was oarried in silence. Mr Perkins suggested that tlhe parish should provide some suitable memorial to the vener- able gentleman. The Vicar saLd he would only be too pleased to fall in with tlhe suggestion, and a small oo,rnmitt,ee--t,he Vioar and wardens, with Messrs Henry Edwards, J. Williams, G. Perkins, D. C. Radoliffe, SaIIl. Davies—was formed to con- sider the matter. I
