Y mae Mr Roberts wedi symud i Golwyn Bay er's tipyu, ac y mae eisioes wedi profi ei fod yn ddyn wrth fodd calon pawb, ac nid wyf yn meddwl fod neb yn pryderu na fydd iddo lwyddo. Llandudno. The Amateur Dramatic Society opened their series of winter entertainments on Wednesday evening. A profit of 620 was generously handed over to the funds of the Drill Hall. 'GUARDIAiN SOCIETY.—The eighth annual dinner, held under the auspices of the Llandud- no Guardian Society, took place on Wednesday evening, when about 120 members and friends sat down to a sumptuous repast at the Grand Hotel. Since its inauguration the society has made rapid progress, and each year has seen improvements and extensions in its working. Mr J. O. Thomas, the vice-president, presided, being supported by Mr William Arnold as vice- president.

Accident to a Conway Butcher. A SERIOUS trap acident occurred on Wednesday evening near Groesynyd. It appears that, as Mr Joseph T. Jones, butcher, Castle-stret, Con- way, was driving on the return journey to Con- way from Messrs Rogers Jones' monthly sales at Talycafn, another vehicle, coming from the opposite direction, met them in the vicinity of Groesynyd. Mr Jones sought to make room for the other carriage, and by doing so the wheel of his own trap slipped into a hole, and the vehicle was overturned, the occupants—Mr Jones, his man (Robert Roberts), and Mr David Jones, Treotty-being violently thrown out. Immediate assistance was forthcoming, and the party were conveyed to Conway, where they were medically attended by Dr. M. J. Morgan. Mr David Jones is suffering from severe in- juries to the scalp, while Mr Joseph Jones sus- tained a cut over the left eye, which necessi- tated stitching. Roberts escaped with a severe shaking. At the time of writing we are in- formed the unfortunate men are making satis- factory progress.

Test Concert at Penmaenmawr. The Resuits. ANOTHER eminently successful test concert was held at the Oxford Hall, Penmaenmawr, on Wednesday evening. The room was packed, and the competition in the several sections was exceptionally keen and interesting. The event of the evening was- the choral com- petition on, "Dyddiau dyn sydd fel Glas- welltyn." Five choirs entered, and in one or two cases the interpretation was really artistic. This remark is particularly applicable in regard to the polished performance of the choir under the leadership of Mr M. H. Parry, Clarence Buildings, Penmaenmawr, and that they secured the place of honour—the second time in suc- cession, by the bye-was only what was to be expected. Nevertheless, a fine tribute was paid to the Maenan competitors. In the open solo competition there were six entrants, and a keen struggle resulted in favour of Mrs iMvion Jones, who sang "Hear, ye Israel," with Miss Davies Williams, Conway, a ?good second in her rendition of "He was despised" ("Messiah"). Mr Kingston Jones, Colwyn Bay, secured first place in the open recitation event, while second prize fell to little Miss Edith Evans, Hendre. Captain Darbishire—who presided in his char- acteristic way-generously awarded a third prize to Miss Thomas, Dwygyfylchi. During the evening the massed choirs gave a stirring rendering of the test piece, under the leadership of the adjudicator, Mr D. D. Parry, Llanrwst. Mr J. Owen ("Seiriol") adjudicated the reci- tations. 'Mr B. J. Potter, F.R.C.O., Conway, was the accompanist, and it was generally conceded that he performed his' work admirably. The proceeds, which will be substantial, were in aid of the new chapel at Penycae.

Induction Meetings at Llandudno Junction. Welcoming the Rev Edward Pierce. THE Rev Edward Pierce was formally installed in his position as pastor of the English Pres- byterian Church at Llandudno Junction on Wednesday afternoon, and if the character of the induction meeting testifies in any way to the heartiness, of the new pastor's welcome, then Mr rierce ought to enjoy the brightest and the most happy of ministries in his new sphere of labour. The Rev H. 'Barrow Williams, B.A., Llan- dudno, presided over the proceedings. After prayer and praise, telegrams were men read from the Rev B. M-enai Francis and the Rev Robert Roberts, C.M., Colwyn Bay, ex- pressing regret of their inability to attend, and their good wishes for the new pastor's future happiness. After a telling, address from the President, Mr Edward Jones, one of the elders of the church, then gave a brief sketch, historical of the "call," and a statement of the position of the church at present. On behalf of the Vale of Conway Monthly Meeting, the Rev J. Edwards, Colwyn Bay, wel- comed Mr Pierce to his new sphere of labour. The Rev D. B. Edmunds, Tregynnon, repre- sented the Montgomery Presbytery, of which Mr Pierce was a member, and, he paid a glow- ing tribute to the new pastor's sterling quali- ties. Full of pathos and humour, the few words spoken by the Rev D. Pierce, father of the new pastor, touched the hearts of all. The Rev Edward Pierce briefly responded to the address- of welcome given by the Rev J. Edwards. Addresses of welcome were also delivered by the Rev T. Gwynedd Roberts, Conway; O. Evans, Llandudno; O. Selwyn Jones, Degan- wi; J. T. Marquand, Conway; J. D. Owen, G]an Conway and Mr Cynwal Jones, Conway. The meeting was brought to a close through prayer, offered by the Rev W. II. Humphreys, formerly pastor of the church. In the evening the Rev D. P. Edmunds de- livered a stirring sermon on a Christian life.

Increase of 210 in the number penned in the sheep market. Both wethers and ewes sold very slowly at a dcciine of fully 2d per 81b without a clearance. Lamb trade steady. Calf trade not worth noting. Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. t Annual Meeting of the Llandudno Branch. THE following report has been sent us by the hon. secretary at Llandudno ;-The annual meeting of the committee and collectors of the Liandudno branch of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was held on Wednesday, last week, at the residence of the secretary, Mrs John latt. The chair was taken by the Rev. C. T. Astley, in the unavoid- able absence of Mr Joseph Broome, J.P. The minutes of the last meeting] were kindly read by Dr. Dalton, J.P., for the secretary, and on the motion of Mrs Woodhouse, seconded by Mrs Wilson, were passed. The report of R. D. Jones, resident inspector, which was also read by Dr. Dalton, J.P., showed how efficiently the work of the society had been carried on during the year. Strict supervision had been kept on the coaching and wagonette traffic, by the inspector and other additional inspectors, during the summer months, and' all animals regularly examined at the coaching centres on the loop tours. The inspector testified to the favourable condition of the donkeys on the sands, and to the attention given to them by their drivers. Pigeon shooting matches and railway stations had been attended, and cau- tions given to persons for delaying to kill wounded pigeons. During the year 54 per- sons had been convicted for cruelty to animals, and the fines and costs amounted to "52 5s 6d. The inspector wished to record his thanks to the police officers of the district, who had given him very valuable and willing assistance. The chairman, in replyin.g to a vote of thanks for presiding, hoped the branch would continue to i prosper, and that the subscribers would re- spond liberally to the appeal of the collectors, so that the work could be efficiently carried on.
