A T a Public Meeting held at Aberysrwyt'i, on ?C?- the 9th December irst., it was unanimous!y resolved to organise a LocaJ Fund for the relief of such of the families of the unfortunate embers of the Crew, residents of Aberystwyth, who are ill actual need and were dependent on their lost retarives. Of the Crew nioewere residents in Aberystwyth, there are six widows, many children, of whom fe ten, whose ages range from infancy to 14 years, a Widowed Mother, and other near reiativea. Many of these are destitute. To relieve even to a Hmited extent the distress which has arisen it is estimated that a sum of .E500 at least must be raised, and having regard to the exceptional circumstances of the case, and the terrible distress it has caused, I with confidence appeal for subscriptions. Each case will be fullv and carefuHv enquired into by a duly-appointed Committee, and the most urgent oases of necessity will be forthwith tem- porarily relieved, and the final distribution of the fund available wiH take place as speedily as practic- able. acd with that object It is proposed that the Fund be closed early in January, 1899. Subscriptions of 10s. 6d. and upwards will be advertised in the local Newspapers, and all Sub- scriptions may be paid to either of the three banks in Aberystwyth, to the credit of the above Fund, or to me. Dated this 12th day of December, 188. D. C. ROBERTS, Mayor of Aberystwyth. SUBSCRIPTIONS. ;S s. d.
