Cup. It was a dis- appointing game. The homesters went off with a dash on the right wing, but were soon driven back, and the visitors opened a sustained attack. Attempt after attempt to break through failed, however, owing to lack of combination, The home forwards presently brought the play to their opponents' goal, but made no sffort to score worthy of the I name. Brecon failed to improve on a corner lnt shortly afterwards broke through and scored easily. After this ¡ til;'re was a good deal of excitement I amoug3t the players, and a few minutes i later the referee stopped the game to caution one of the visitors for ULL- j necessarily charging an opponent, j The visitors again gained a dangerous j position, but owing to weak shooting and off-side" could not add to their score, although they had an open goal in front of them on more than one occasion, j Half-time score— ) Brecon Sports Club 1 Builth Wells Wednesdays 0 Resuming, the visitors at once at- tacked and after several misses obtained a- second goal. The homesters now made a determined attempt at scoring, Lichfield was brought to his knees with one shot and a goal was awarded. The point was disputed by the Brecon team and eventually one of the backs was ordered off the field. More trouble followed. One of the home backs made a rush on his own, and whilst he was doing this another Builth player was charged and a little disturbance followed. The referee (Mr Hope, of Howey) then blew his whistle and the game was brought to a close when the score stood- Brecon Sports Club 2 Builth Wells Wednesday 1

o —- RHAYADER v. TALGARTH. On Saturday Talgarth visited Rhayacfer in the semi-final of the Builth Wells Spa Cup and played the Rhayader Reserves on the Lion Field. A strong wind militated against good football. The players were Talgarth-W. Davies Emrys Evans and Frank Davies H. Parry, Hubert Williams and Vincent Davies; Tudor Jones, J. Smith, Len Sheldon, H. Weale and D. Davies. Rhayader—J. Jones E. Walters and R. Ashton H. Andrews, J. E. Williams I and George Morgan F. Powell, K. II Morgan, R. Morgan, R. Lewis and A. Hope. The Referee was Mr Lewis Corsham, Builth Road. After some even exchanges without much combination, Rhayader broke through the visitors' defence and Hope netted the ball. The visitors then pulled themselves together and gained a dangerous position, and the home cus- todian cleared shot after shot. After a brier spell at the other end Tudor Jones took possession and dashed for goal, but sent the ball a few inches over the cross- bar, missing an opportunity which with a little coolness could have been con- verted into a goal. The ball was again transferred to the other end, the home forwards made a rush for goal and R. Morgan found the net. Half-time— Rhayader 2, Talgarth nil. On resuming the visitors opened an attack, but the homesters held them at bay and attempt after attempt to break through proved disappointing. Even- tually Talgarth pressed a corner, which was nicely dropped by Davies, and H. Parry, with a brilliant header, found the net. This encouraged the visitors, but their efforts Ncame to nothing and the end came- Rhayader 2 Talgarth l

Mid Wales League. LLANFAES BRIGADE, v. BUILTH WELLS. Despite a wet afternoon there was a very fair attendance at this match at Brecon on Saturday. Pte Ridd, S.W.B. Depot had charge of the game and the teams were as fonows.- Builth Wells .-Steplie us; Ll. Pritchard and Gordon Jones T. Evans, E. Pugh, and Lee Metcalfe, Simcock, S. Smiles, F. Pritchard, and Burns. Llanfaes Brigade.— J. Gittins; D. Davies and T. Richards E. Bvans, W. Davies, Tudor Webb W. A. Webb, J. Davies, S. Williams, E. Webb, and H. Lewis. Accurate football was difficult with the ball and ground slippery, but both teams were triers all the way. Builth showed the better style and their forwards made many pretty movements, whilst the Llanfaes front line, for a good deal of the game, whilst doing good individual work, lacked cohesion. Otherwise the teams were pretty well matched. Llan- faes were the first to score, after Stephens had sated a penalty at the expense of a corner. Teddy Webb's shot from a well placed centre striking the underside of the cross-bar and turning into the net. Soon afterwards Gittins saved a hot shot from Burns in first-rate style, and a minute or two later Builth registered a smart offside goal. P. Pritchard corner. Till at last in sad despair, I gave it to a comrade there, So that he could make a pair Of slippers for his feet. The cutlets that we get are fine, Their smell is simply divine (?) They keep on singing Auld Lang Syne" And acting most contrary. And if you only wait awhile I They'll sing you songs of Erin's Isle, And then march out in single file I Singing Tipperary." But now, dear friends, I'm weak and frail, My heart is sad, my cheeks are pale, I haven't strength to tell a tale Or even draw my breath. put them one up with a shot which, it appeared, Gittins ought to have saved. Lewis made the score two all with a fine individual effort, and the game ended in a draw. Three parts of the way through Builth's chance of winning appeared very rosy and they deserved i a victory for their superior combination and quickness in getting the ball forward; but the Llanfaes lads have the great: merit of not knowing when they are beaten. When this game appeared lost they made a supreme effort, their for- wards helped one another more and with better judgement, and so they pulled one point oat of the fire. v i HAY v. BRECON DEPOT. Hay Town met Brecon Depot at home on Saturday. Notwithstanding wet weather there was a capital gate. Mr Lewis, of Brecon, was "the referee and j gave every satisfaction. The home team held the upper hand throughout, but the visitors were very unfortunate in losing two of their team through accident, the last three goals being scored during the last twenty minutes, and when they were playing with nine men. The half-time score was Hay 2, Brecon Depot 1. With the wind in their favour during the second portion Hay had no difficulty in increasing their lead. Final Hay 5, Brecon 1.
