After the Mothers' Union Litany had been said. Deaconess Alice spoke on the serious problem brought about by the Matrimonial Causes Bill." The idea. she said, was that if a married man lived his own life apart for the period of three years lie could get a divorce without consuming the wife in any way, nor would he be bound to con- tribute to her or their children s support. Marriage was a most sacred thing and members were asked to do their best to talk over this Bill and get to know others' opinion upon it also to ask mothers of yonng girls to read the y I Church of England Marriage Service through with them, to get to perfectly understand the sacredness of marriage. The hymn Fight the good fight" and prayer brought a most helpful meeting to a close.

The interment took place at Dorstone churchard oil Monday, the 18th inst. The Rev. M. F. Harper officiated. Many wreaths were sent. After the War Problems.—A further meeting of a private nature was held at Hay Castle oIJ. Monday evening last. by the kindness of the Dowager Lady Glanusk, for the purpose of considering what steps should be taken with a view to fostering public opinion in the district in respect of the difficult problems that will present themselves after the war. As stated last week, the movement was initiated by Professor Howat. of Trevecca, with the help afforded by Hon. Mabel Bailey. Mr Williams Vaughan, of Penymaes, again presided. There was a long discussion and it was unanimously decided to hold a. public meeting, aud Professor Howat undertook to procure a speaker. War S-tvitigs.A. meeting was held at the Drill Hall on Monday evening last, under the auspices of the National War Saving* Committee, to consider what steps Hay and district could take in the urgent matter ot help- ing to finance the war. Mr T. E. James (chair- man of the Urban District Council) presided. Miss Ashton Jones, representing the National War Savings Committee, and Mr A. Leonard, county secretary, attended as a deputation. The Chairman, in introducing the speakers. said it was everybody s duty to save at such a time as this and to supply the Government with the silver bullets asked for by the Prime Minister. The more they economised, the more they would be able to lend the Govern- ment. It was their duty to encourage thrift. and a thrifty nation was a prosperous one. He could not understand why so many were loath to lend money they ought to be ready to make any sacrifice for the good of the country. He was glad to say they had an association in Hay and they were indebted very much to Mr Samson and Mr Owen Price for the great interest taken by them in the matter. Their object that evening was to form a committee to encourage the formation of other War Savings Associations in the district. After excellent addresses by Miss Ashton Jones and Mr Leonard. a committee was appointed as follows :—Revs. J. J. de: Winton, Idris Davies. and W. E. T. Morgan, Messrs. A. C. Samson. W. Owen Price, T. E. James, H. Morris, C. Jones. E. J. Stephens, James Cater, I. Benbow, A. Gwilliam, H. R. Grant. Hon. Mabel Bailey, Mrs W. Lilwall. Miss Marwood, and Miss Kedwards. with power 'to add to the number. Mr A. C. Samson was appointed secretary, and Mr W. Owen Price treasurer.
