Canvass of Breconshire. Another meeting of the Breconshire Parliamentary Recruiting Committee to forward the arrangements for the canvass of unstarred men in the county under Lord Derby's scheme was held at Brecon on Friday last, the Hon. R. C. Devereux presiding. The Hon. Secretaries presented returns showing that the local arrangements for the canvass were almost complete, notwithstanding the difficulty of dealing with the large areas with scattered populations of which Breconshire principally consists. They also reported the receipt of the can- vassing cards from the military authorities, and that these were being grouped ready for despatch to the various districts. It may be added that the canvassers' cards' of authority, signed by Lord Derby and countersigned by Mr Sidney Robinson, M.P., as the chairman of the Breconshire Parliamentary Recruiting Committee, have now been sent out, and that the distribution of the canvassing cards through the local secretaries is well on its way. In some districts, by the time this paragraph appears in print, the actual work of canvassing will have commenced.
