LLANBEDR. ERCM GALLIPOLI. -Letters from Willisio I Watbins, son of the late David Watkins, Of Church outtage, state that he is well, and tbft our troops are doing splendidly in the Gallipoli peninsula. The same writer deolaff0 that our submarines are achieving wonders iO the Sea of Marmora. THH ARMY.—Three of the reotor's brothe*? are now sab lieutenants in the Darbam Lig^' Infantry. They represent a loyal family. wish them much suooess. THE CHURCH.—At the morning and evenio^ services at the parish church on Sunday Itist, Lord Glanusk's "Wu Time" Hymn was atilli;; th* words having been set to music by Ur s O. Gibson, at the suggestion of Mr Artbtll Beckwith (Moor Park). The Rector sang first two verses as a solo, the worda implyJfJfc an injunction. Then the congregation kne" and sang the remaining verses. Mr Gibsop I tune is rather a haunting one and we sholli certainly not tire of singing suoh a simple, yet pleasing piece of harmony. The rhytbol of his Lordship's hymn is somewhat irregell&fl so that althongh the verses are so excellent 10 other respeots it is difficult to set them to regular hymn tune of either triple or oomlDOØ time. We understand that Mr Gibson is DOVF engaged in writing other music for the sola verses, so 88 to make the hymn still mote effective. Boom on, ye mighty guns, and do your worst! Spit out your Are, and roar until ye burst; We fear ye not, Nor care one jot. Boom on your sting was futile from the first. < Charge on, ye mighty hosts, and feed your pride 1 Take all the ground ye can our strength deride And as ye go, Ye weaker grow. Forward and foreign soil your bones shall hide. j aast on, ye beasts, ye fools! your lies are kuolr Nor shall ye e'er again our friendship own. Your heads, though swelled, Have little held. Grasp! grasp the shadow's yours, and ours 111 bone. „ S. F._g>«

--__ A BUILTH PROBLEM.
A BUILTH PROBLEM. And some Hasty Exits. At the Bailth Rural Council meeting on Monday. Mr T. Pagb, Wernfswr (chairman), presiding, the question of the sanitation of Oaklsodp, a suburb of Builth, wus diacunsfd, I in the liuut of a report made by Siinitary I Committee on April 17th last. This reportJ stated that the committee were unable to satisfy themselves as to whether the surface water gullies were properly constructed, and advised that one or two of them he opened out to ascertain if they were fitted with proper syphous. They also recommended that these j gullies and all inspection chambers be cleared out at stated periods, and that a register be 1 kept at the clerk's office, to be signed by the person responsible each time such olearing was j done. Tbe committee considered that an air ventilating shaft should be connected with the sewer at Higher Oaklands, as the outlet of the sewer in the river was under water, and sewer gas might at times accumulate. This sewer, should alao be provided with ventilation at the extreme (blind) end. Dr Black Jones (medical officer of health) reported that be was present at the opening of two gullies, and one of these was not trapped. He suggested that tbe nine gullies in Oablands be opened, and those not trapped should be-altered. He also recommended that a ventilating pipe should be erected at the end of Oaklands, so that when tbo water was high the sewer gas shoald have a safe out'et. There was a piese of land in this pa-rt of Oikl in.ls wbioh belonged to Lord Glannsk, and he sug- gested that the Council should acquire the fame to erect a vectilating pipe there. Mr Talk remarked that tbe whole of the doctor's recommendations were inolnded in the sanitary conuuiittee's report eobouifcted SOttle time ago. Many of the ratepayers bad asked what had become of the report. Mr ^yoosnam also asked the reason why there bad been a delay in carrying out the report, which was adopted and referred to the Sanitary Inspector for the work to be executed. It was a matter which should have been promptly attended to. The Chairman wished to know why the counoil had not taken over this piece of road. Mr Talk replied that the road coald only be taken over at the reqaeat of the owner. Mr H. Owen (Oaklands) waited on the Council to state bis views on The subject. He said there was a syphon in every galley in Oaklands, with the exception of the one uear the gas bouse, which bad not been opened for 10 years. The gallies were made of brick, and leaked, the water soaking into the ground, and they should bH cemented. It bad been sug- gestr that inter-syphons aod inspecting tanks should be placed iu Oaklands, bat if they inspected tho galleys in Bailtb Wells they would find there were DO inspecting syphous there. The drainage in Oakiatidq was good and had always bad the name of beiog so. Inspector Evans wanted a trap on f-very down pipe to the main, bat he did not think that dnring war time they should insist on a trap for every small pipe. Dc. Black Jones enquired whether he was to have the other gullies inspected. Mr Talk said there wan no doubt the first golley cpeoed wss defective and ttccording to the report the work shoutd bf proceeded with. Mr H. Owen was continaiog tbo discussion when the Chairman vacated the chair. Mr Thomas Davies, the chairman of tbe Bailth Board of Guardians, took his place and remarked to Mr Owen that be was sorry the Chairman of the the Council bad left, "ud that be wished to proceed with the work of tbe Board. (Laughter). Mr Owen thereupon seized his bat aud hurriedly left the room.
