OPEN TO ALL CHILDREN ATTENDING ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS IN BRECONSHIRE. Amongst the many changes made in recent years in Educational methods in our public elementary schools, none has been more welcome to the children than the introduction of pOLOUR WORK, which has already had a marked effect in lightening School Life and stimulating the child mind by housing its interest. In Breconshire, fostered by the Local Education Authority, the use of Colours, either with Brush or Chalk, has become general in the Schools, and the results achieved have been in toany cases quite remarkable for their excellence. There will be in all 120 PRIZES divided as follows 40 FIRST PRIZES of 5' 40 SECOND PRIZES of 3'- 40 THIRD PRIZES of ThP-se will be given for Colouring, either with Brush or Chalk, Outlines of Nature Studies, Etc., Etc. Four different outline designs will be provided, and presented, one each week, with the "BRECON COUNTY TIMES" of THURSDAY, JULY 31st THURSDAY, AUG. 14th si AUG. 7th s, is 21st Competitors must retain their Sheets till the four are finished, and then send them to the "BRECON COUNTY TIMES Office, Brecon, not later than FRIDAY, AUGUST 29th. Any number of competitors may join in sending a parcel of completed sheets, to save postage pr carriage, and to ensure better preservation of the drawings. A competent and independent judge will be appointed to award the prizes, and the results will be announced as so en as ascertained. In order to make the competition as fair as possible for all, the county will be divided into groups of schools, town and country schools being placed in different groups wherever 0 it is feasible, and prizes will be allotted to these groups in numbers as near as possible proportionate to the number of children on the School Books.
