CAUTION.—ELLIS and SON beg to call attention to the following important TESTIMONIALS which guarantee the absolute jurity ot all AERATED WATERS manufactured by them:— Ij^LLIiS and SON S AERATED \VA ^ERS.—Analyst's Zj Laboratory. County of Denbigh, Well-st eet, Ruthin, Sept. 4, 1874.—I hereby certify that the water 1 procured from your woiks last week, and which is used in the manufacture of your carhouated waters, proves upon analysis to be perfectly free from any organic matter injurious to health, and the most delicate tests have failed to discover even a trace of lead or any other deleterious m neral.—J. J. Bancroft, F.C.S., Analyst of Frod and D.ink to the County of Deubigh.—To Messrs. Elh and Son Soda Water Manufacturers, Ruthin. AERATED WATERS (ELLIS and i-OVS) —Lower Muvprave-house, Exeter. Sept. 2, 1874.-Dear Sirs,—lu reply to yours of the 27th August respect- ing jour Soda Water Works, at Ruthin, I beg to say that, so far as I know, there cannot possibly be any defilement of your water by surface or other im- purities. The drainage of your establishment was carried out under my supervision in 1872, and was well and thoroughly done. No leakage can ta\e place therefrom, neither can there be any reflux of polluting or sewage matter from the main sewer, which is nearly 300 feet from the spot whence your supply of water is derived. I have much pleasure in bearing this testimony to the precautions that you have to preclude the danger of any con- taminating fluids finding th re way into your well, and I am perfectly convinced of their efficacy.—I am, dear Sirs (signed), yours faithfully, John M. Martin, C.E., F. M.S.—Messrs. R. Ellis and Son. ELLIS and SON'S AERATED WATERS li Medical College, London Hospital, The Laboratory, May 14th, 1872. Gentlemen,—I have to report to you the results of the analysis of the samples of wafer whica you sent me for extmination. The water was perfectly bright and it was nearly free from colour when examined in large volume. The water is of good quality, and is wnll suited for domestic use.—(Si ned) H. Lethebv M.B. EUATED WATEkS (ELLIS and SON'S— -T\. 37, Hertford-síreet, Mayfair, London. July 27th, 1871. Gentlemen,—I must apologise to you for my Ion? delay in acknowledging and reporting upon the samples of your RTIFICIAL WATERS, which you sent me, owing to illness. I have employed a chymist to ascer- tain for me the intrinsic purity of your waters, which is as near perfection as possible.—"(Signed) M. Druitt M.R.C.P. ELLIS and SONS AERATED WATERS.— Jfj Royal College of Chemistry, Liverpool, August, 1857 Sirs,—I have very carefully tested your SODA and POTASS WATERS, and find them perfectly pure. Water containing even a trace of organic matter (vegetable or animal) I have always considered injurious, but the water supplied from the deep well upon your premises gives a beautifully white crystalline residue entirely free from this noxious ingredient. Your Aerated Beverages are admirably prepared, and on this account I have no hesitation in pronouncing them exceedingly whole- some, nnd capjfble of being kept for years without decoropon occurring. They are quite equal, if not superior, to any in the kingdom, and I consider them chemically the best. Ir is only within the last six months that I .have used Soda Water and Pot aSS Water, owing to the introduction into this town of Catchment Water from Riverton Pike. Your preparations I find healthy, and delicious, and I daily recommend them to my friends. You are at liberty to make any use of this communication, should you consider it worthy of publication. Yours respectfully, Sheridan Muspratt, F.R.S., &c., Professor of Chemistry. Messrs. R. Ellis and Son, Ruthin. AERATED WATERS.—ELLIS and SON to avoid all chances of impurity, use almost crystal water., ELLIS and SON'S AERATEITWATERS.— Lon- jLj don, 24th Match, 1853, 18, Upper Seymond-street, Portman-square.— We have the pleasure of reporting the composition and quality of the POTASS and SODA CARBONATED WATERS, after a careful, minute analysis of the same, as they are manufactured by Messrs ELLIS and SON, of Ruthin, and find them remarkably pure and strong, in gas; the amount of which is equal to from 13 to 16 times the volume of the liquid contained t in each bottle, and ranees, therefore, from 221 to 272 cubic inches. The quantity of soda and potass in each bottle is equal to 15 prams (which agrees with the Phar- macol oea) of the bicarbonate of either alkali. The water in itself is absolutely pure, has no taint of organic matter, and is not liable to alteration or decomposition by being kept any length of time. It will prove most servicable to all ailments of the urinary organs, in dyspepsia, in acid ermcfations, psoriasis, and other forms of cutaneous disease."—A. Ure, M.D., F.R.S. Analytical Chemist; L. Thompson, M.R.S., Analyt;cal Chymist. AERATED WATERS (ELLIS and SON'S).—Ex- tract from Chyinistry Theoretical, Practical, and Analytical," by Dr. Sheridan Muspratt, F.R.S., &c., pages 1,101 :—"About 40 years ago, when the fabrica- tion of mineral and spa waters commenced, a very violent opposition arose with regard to them, especially from the members of Faculty. They were said to be devoid of all the good qualities of the natural oneli-to be minus a certain conditio sine qua non in a shape of a spiritus or vital force, which imparted the medicinal reversed. jired to see such statements treasures, has demonstrated to a cerium e constituents of the natural waters are; and thus one is now enabled to procure artificial water. quite equal, if not superior, to the natural ones. Now that the chymist is able to distinguish the ingredients actually efficacious in a water, a much more active mixture than the native spring can be prepared." AERATED WATERS.—Messrs ELLIS and SON, of Ruthin, prepare a beautiful imitation of the SELTZER WATER, which, on analysed by the Editor, yielded exactly the fame constituents of the far- famed Bohemian spring. The artificial is certainly more palatable than thp natural water, owing probably to the freshness of the carbonic acid infused into it by the ad- mirable apparatus M' ed by Messrs Ellis. Some time ago the Editor was greatly pleased in inspecting the ad- mirably conducted establishment of Ellis and Son, at Ruthin, North Wales. Everything was so nice and clean; and as for the water employed, from a deep and splendid well upon the premises, it might be said to be absolutely pure; and it is on thia account that he con- siders the soda, potass, and other beverages prepared in these works superior to any other in the market. The T quantity of soda or potass in each bottle at Ruthin is 15 grains of the bicarbonate or other alkali; and the car- bonic acid is equal to about 250 or 260 cubic inches, showing how well the gas is compressed. The water from the well only holds two grains of solid matter in solution, al,d has not a trace of organic matter hence it is cot liable to alterate or decompose if kept for any length of time. ELLIS and SON'S AERATED WATERS.—The public are particularly requested to observe that every cork is banded R. ELLIS and SON, Ruthin, and every label bears their trade mark, Goat on Shield, without which none is genuine. The waters may be ob- tained from all respectable chymists, confectioners, and hotel-keepers; and wholesale only from R. Ellis and Son, Ruthin, North Wales. It is much valued by hosts and hostesses at parties and balls. ELLIS and SON'S SODA-WATER WORKS.—From JLL< the Carnarvon and Denbigh Herald:—"The fame of Burton-upon-Trent for its sparkling ales is fasl being rivalled by Ruthin for ita mineral and arti. ficial waters and effervescing champagne lemonade, whicit are prepared most largely on a novel and im- proved principle by Messrs. R Ellii and Son, manu- facturers to the Roynl Family, and exported to al parks of the empire.
