--=-_ EDITION ONE. FESTINIOG COUNTY COURT COMPENSATION FOR QUARRYMEN. Several compensation cafsee came before his honour Judge Evans at Festiniog County Court, to-day week. All the applicants were quarrymen. W. O. Powell, who had an injured hand, was awar- ded lis 4d per week, Mr W. George, appearing for applicant., and Mr R. 0, Davies for the respondents, the Diphwys Quarry Co. W. G Daves, who injured his head at Rhosydd Quarry, was also made an award by consent, the am- ount being 9s Id per week. Mr George was for the applicant. R. Roberts claimed 8s compensation from t Oakeley Co., for injury to the foot. Mr Cuthbert Smith (instructed by Messrs Carter, Vincent, and Co.), for the respondents, said he was only entitled to Is per week, arguing that he was earning less wages by 7s as the result of trade depression, and not because of the accident. His Honour accepted this view and made an award of Is per week, with no order as to oosts. The Votty and Bowydd Co. sought to terminate an agreement to, pay 12s Gd weekly compensation to W. Jones, who injured his knee. Mr R. 0. Roberts, for the company, said the man had recovered and was suffering from rheumatism, totally unconnected with the accident. Mr R. 0. Davies, for the workman, ascribed the rheumatism to the injury, and said the knee itself was still bad. He called three doctors, and Mr Roberts called two doctors. The Judge dismissed the application and confirmed the agreement to pay 12s 6d, costs to be on scale C.
