OLD COLWYN. M&'S CLUB.The members of the Men's Clulb were oa Monday evening entertained to a supper in -the clubrooms. Several friends interested in the movement were present in- cluding the Rev. «J. PENNY QONCJEfRTS. Saturday's penny concerts, held-under the auspices of the Brother- hood, was a, most: successful one. The proceed- ings took the.form.of a dialogue, entitled "Blaok Justioe." I-Owen Jones held an inquest to-dav weet touching the death of John McKay, a hakerln the employ of M^rs E. B. Jones Id Co Canton House -Mr Morris R. Jones, Maen^ Mr WVi'f the fopeman of the jury. Mr White Philhpia represented Messrs Jones and Co. In^tor Roberts appeared for the Slice T to Messrs E. B. Jones and '1 Co., said that the deoeased came to the bakery last May. He was in his usual health on the evening of the 17th inst., but he had been down for 16 days with influenza, and had only resumed work the previous week. McKay was a quiet man, and had a wife and family, who lived in Liverpool. In cross-examination, the witness etat d that he was called to the bakery that morning, and found the place full of gas. De- ceased was on his back on one of the tables, with a sack across his chest, and two sacks as a pillow under his head. A pieoe of rubber piping was at ached a gas bracket, one end of it being clos-, to ,ne deoeased, and the gas was full on, WitnL: i could not understand why the rubber pipe had been put on at all. Robert Eva.ns, an assistant at Canton House, eaid that when he we-nt to the bakery that morning no work had boen done, and the doors of the furnace were open. He saw McKay dead on the table, and the rubber pipe, with gas running through it, close by his side. There was no need for the pipe, and it was not ready for use. Dr. Carey Evans deposed to having been called to see the decea-ed soon after eight o'clock that morning. He must have died about three hours previously from suffocation but whether inten- tionally or unintentionally witness could not state. Inspector Roberta said that he had made a minute examination of the place, but could throw no more light upon the affair. Mrs Griffith, Park-square, said that deceased want to work about 3.30 that morning. He used to go early to work. McKay was in the house th night before and took a cup up tea before retiring to bed, about 10 o'clock. The jury returned a verdict that deceased was accidentally suffocated.
