Rydal Mount (Present Boys) v. Rydal Mount (Old Boys.) The sports were brought to- a fitting cilimax Oint Monday by a match arranged between the present s,einilor eleven, of the school and eleven of the visiting puipils. Botli- teams, were welll represented, and in the, ranilks of the "Ollid 'Boys" were seen several players well known to towns- peoplle. Tihp--re! was. a good attendance around' the rails when, the players lined up, under the charge of Air G. Osborn. The teams turned out as. follo,ws iRydlall Mbainlt': Gioal, Bushell; backs, Mir ■Davies, and Simipson halves, Berry,, Bourne, and jaimes Lancaster, FisheryBraife- ford, Mt Pope, and 'Hamer. Old, Boys Goal, A. Berry backs, Brown and LFarliey; halves, iMeBiing, Niichoilson, and IM|ees; forwardls, T. E. Lewis, Truman, R. Greeinhaligh, Hogarth, and C. V. Lewis. The visitors commenced the Rydaliianis quickly proving aggressive, and Mr Pope hit the uprighit, with a splendid attempt. Tlhiisi was. quickly foililowed by a good, shot from Lancaster. Greemhaligh changed the venue with a nice ruins, his. final effort only just .going wide of the mark. From Bonnie's pass, Mir Pope tried a pot, which Bieriry cleared. The present pupils, however, would not be' shaken off, Briail'siford having aai ineffectual shy. A grand pass went abeggi,ng3 through Lancaster lying too. far behind. Lew-is made a good run,, but Mr DiavÍieis proved a stubborn barrier. Mid- fieiid exchanges-, followed, of which the Rydaiii- ans had the, better, and: getting weilb up Mr Pope beat Berny with a rousing shot, the cus- todian having no chance. A penally was the cause of the second downfall of the visitors' eitadell, M,r Pope again doing the needful. From now1 until the interval the game was hard fought. An .attack by the Old 'B'ayis led to T. E. Lewis scoring their first poinlt. T'hlis ronsed the players, aind visits.' were made from end' to end1 in quick ,tiÍ,me'. One of tihese visits was the means of the equaliser being put on by Gore-en- haJgh. Half-time scores: — RydaA Mount, 2 Old (Boys, 2. The restart found t!he Old Boys aggressive, and Llowartih tried has luck. T:his was- cleared, ,and Brailsford m.ade a tricky pass to Mr Ploipe, C'r'. who s,coreida third fro'm twenty yards range. Lew,ils was ne-xt to shine, an individual run be- ing capped by a good1 shot. Greenhallgh also had an attempt, which only mlilsls, edi by inches. Some of the Old Boys were now beginining to get fagged, whilst tihe-ir younger o-.pponentis were quite fresh, their strict training standing them in good stead. A penalty against Mir Davies, for handling was taken by Gireenhalgh, and he made maltit.ems. level. This was, quickly followed by a fourth, 'Bushell mulling, a,nid Truman rushing th-e sphere into the net. Try as they -coiulicl the Rydalians could n,ot make any impression,, although several good move- ments were initiated by 'Mr Pope, who led his forwards' in splendid style, and gave am exhibi- tion sluch as, is not: often seen in. the town. All ,too playersi gave a' creditable show, and from start to- finish the game was, of a high order. The oalll of tlilme found the scores as, follows — IOlid Boys, 4; iRydal Mount, 3.

Rhyl v. Birkenhead. For some weeks past Rhyl have- managed to be victorious iin. their Ooimbination matches when plaiyiiing ait home, a,s they were aliso on Saturday last, when, a good crowd of spectators witnessed the- above match. Rhyl were -,viiitlh,- out their usual custodian, and a reserve mam was, put on., otihtenviis,e 'the teams, were fairly well represented. The (homesters won the' tIOSS, and the visitors started the ball with a glaring sun shining in their faces. The first, quarter of ani hour was, very uninteresting, and both te,ams seemed "Hazy." However, as the game wenit' on, the mto Iiivcfned, up, and the IRhyl quintette made an exoelUeint dash for the opposin.g oiita- dId, but Thomias, the captain, sihot .wli, dlt,; A free kick was awarded to the home side iin close proximity to the goal, and. this was tiakeni by 'Breen, but proved fruitless. Tommy Williams wa,s not- up to his, usual fOIDm, and sever all times he was pulled up for being offside. Oince he rbetted ,the- bia'll, but this was not gi,ve,n them. Play wa.s. now changed to the other [half, and the .Rhyl spectaors hiaid an anxious time of it. The custodian continually kicked the ball in- stead of handling ilti, with tihe result that his clearanioesi were very poor, and sometimes he had tio- stave at the expense of corners.. The in- sidle right' of the visiting team, had a pop aiti goal, and the keeper misjudged it, with the re- sult that Rhyl's colours were lowered. This disheartened -several of the supporters, but the players kept) ait ilt, and after an excellent' run on his owtn the captain found the net amidst great cheering. Nbtlhi,DIg further occurred until the change of e-ndsi, and; tihe.r1 the homesters were masters o.f ,the .situation', although the visitors have very hard lines.. T\rue garnet at times showed1 a tendency to. being rough, aind fouls were very frequent. iShiortlly afteir re-commenc- ing, Llovey Jones1 tricked the backs,, but the bailil was on the point of going out of ,pl,ay, when, he turned: it completely round1 and, found the net, far out of the, reach of the -custodian-. 'Rhyl pressed for some time, and Jack Jones from, miildfield dlro-ve the ball ilnto the goalkeeper's hands. 'He managed to hold the ball, but it slipped over, his head into, the net,, thus register- ing the third point for Rhyl. 'Tthe fourth was ad,die,d by Lovey Jones with al magnificent grounder. 'Towards the cliose of this game, SiÛioneæ was: making excellent headway with the ball, when the- left full back of the visitors dle- liiibeirateiy tripped hiiim up, and a penalty was awarded;, and. Jack Jones, added a fifth point. The visit OL'S, were fairly beaten by five goafo to one. During the progress of the game, the refmee (IMir Jardttne, Wrexham) was subjected to some very uingenitlemiandy remarks by a, niuimi- ber of the spectators, owing to their not agree- ing wiith hIs decisions, and twice he had to wainn people in the crowd. Two mien were also temporarily hurt-, and left tihe field for a minute or two.

Close of the Season. CIOMWAY'S U'NISAlTHS'FACTOiRY AiClHIIEVE- MIE-NT. Sumimer us slowly but surely brushing aside her colder sister, and, as usual, winter'si de,a,th .sounds the knielm of our pet, game, "footer," ait the s-ame time. Most of us listen to. the doleful toll with sincere regret', because, whatever migiht be. said of other g,a.m,e,s-a.t least, those1 of the summer variety—they are all deadiy tame in comparison with the rollicking entranc- iing sport associated, with both codes, of foot- ball. Not. that Conway, in common with other place's on the coast, is inextricably bound uip in the great winter game. Indeed1, to judge by the- patronage and assistance offered to the town team, local reisiide/nts aiie anyltihiing but enthusi- asts. lNeN,.epthel!e,s,s,, no other game has, such am attra'cition, even for Conway, as football, and we feel, SUIre- there lies dormant a pretty con- sidteraible liove for the game which olnly needs a little cultivation to fan into ia useful strength).

Upon the town club itself rests the duty of asicertlainging the proper way to do this culti- vation. What' the institution has: been, doing this year ilscertainly not to be regarded as a factor in it. The "Blues'" have often been termed "Ia one-man show. This. title is not,, very faT from being a. correct one. For tlhe, besit pant1 of the season the team has beetn. run by three men only. But for Messrs W. O. Piarry, H. Lloyd, and' Bob Jones,, the session, would have .en,dh:d' even more disastrously than it has.. And the faullt for all this -lies, apparently, utpon the club itself. At the commeincemeinit1 of the season, the members made the egregious mistake of excluding some of the moslt indus- trious) members of 1<as,t year's committee in favour oif a number who have dio,n,e-weql,, to, put it bluntly, nothing. Committee meetings have, we, are assured,, long been a. thing of ithe pasit, ais far as the Conway club is concerned. The result, is this season terminates with Con- way in the doubtful, poSrition of sharing with Penmaenmawr. the disgrace which is attached: to tihe holders, of the wooden, .sipoon in the League contest, and winners. of but one ro-uind in 'the Junior Cup Competition. Last yelaY the "•Bluesi" wrere third1 in the League list, and proud possessors, of the Cup. Thiis is retro- gression with a vengeance.,and nothing but the blunder alreadiy refened to is accountable for it, because the club was. never stronger in play- ing members. An organi-slatio.,n which can turn out a side who could whack Portmadbc asi the ".B[UleiS'" did on the Miorfa a few monithis ago- is certainly worthy of a position, better than that which it at present occupies, and, for the good ioif tihe game., and1 for the credit of the gra,nid old town which they represent., we hope to have a thorough "h,o,iise,dle,an.i.ng" iin the management' when next season comes round. +
