Rhyl Football Notes. (By "CRITIC.") Rhyl Again Vanquished. The Rhyl organisation appears to be under the 'spall df defeats from, home, for on Satur- day last they were 'again dectisiively belaten, by it,h,ree goals to. nil at Niantwicih. Unfortunately for the visiting, team, they were mtinus the services o'f T. Roberts, T. Williams, and Jenkins, and substitute's were requisitioned. Football Chips (By "VIGILANT.") That the secretary of the North Wales Coast TA:ague, Mr D. LI. Hughes, of lortmiadoc, offers some explanation regarding the Llan- dudno Amateurs. That he misinterprets my meaning, at which I am not surprised. That the "giiie at home" I mean, was the fixture with L.ianfair P.G. at L'la.ndudno. Thait the Amateurs were dressed on that oc- casion awaiting their opponents. That red-tapdism and personal feeling lock as though tihev were the cause of that. That Llandudno owed "necessary fees" when- ■they spent pounds T0 journey to Po.rtimadoc. Thlat the eoimnninicatxini respeatiing the Llamwat teair, journeying to Llandudno was an instance of good secretaryship. (?) Thait Llandudno, • when, they met iJianrwst, still owed the "necessary fees." Stl :i\ t'hev were allowed to play. Thiait Portmiadoc's interesJtis were capitally studied on that, occasion, at the extpense of the young Llandudno club, who have. 1itible gates, -and no monied-supponters, guidh as vice- presidents, etc. Thiat Colwyn Bay's defeat by the Pcmtmen was an "eye-opener" and a "siaaggerer." That it was an ignomnnons wind'-up to Amiateur Cup hunting. That the best foot must be put forward with lcihe el1.counter with Knighton. That for the sake of the Coasters, I trust the Bayiites will rise to the occasion, and win. That havinig the Knigihtonians at the Bay in the round means something. That the Bayites have been ousted out of two cup üompeÜtions. Truat the Llandiudno Amateurs did the firSt trick at Llandudno for the Coast Junior Cup, and Portmadoc in the Amateur Cup. That the Bayites have still two more to "go" for, Niiz. The Soames Charity and the Welsh Senior. Thalt the Roosters were "matchless" on Sat- urday. That they canoo with a perch rest after re- cent displays. That it its hoped1 the new year will bring, forth a new order of things for the poultry. That the diet of the birds has been very indi- gestible, draohms of foreign talent having been imported, and found wanting. Thalfc PeiiNmDres, Conway, and Llandudno were without engagements on. Saturday also. That the Green Linnatis of Betltwsyioced jour- neyed to Bangor, and were decisively beaten. That I never expected they would win. That it would be well to know the name of the team that has won there this season. That the deffeat of six none -was no disgrace to the Linnets. That the rulbbing up against Biangor will be useful to them in vjetw of the 9th January. That all Llanrwst will prolbalbly be there on. that day-wea;th,er, etc., permitting. That Colwyn Bay meet Lianrwslt on Boxing Day at the market town. That the struggle will be a keen one. That whatever the result, the return match is on New Year's Day. That last year the Roosters beat "Cihe Bayites on their own ground. Thaft they had a very superior team then to now. • That I wish all my football friends a Merry Christmas. —,— »

Carnarvon Education Committee. A New Concordat. THE Carnarvon Eduicaltiion Coimmiitlitee at their meeting on Thunsdiay afternoon haid under con- siderati-on, a new concordat prepared by Mr Xssiard Daviets in the following form.:—"That all non-provided' schools where the miiniislteirs; at Free Churches or their nominees are admitted to give religions instruction to those children) whose parents desire it at he specified time for the usual religions instruction, or where the master appointed is a memlber df the: Free Churches, shall be treated fiinancialOy as on aa-i equality wilth the provided! schools and in. aicoordance: with the pro visions of the' Act." Many of the members olpenly sympathised: wiith tihe proposer's, aims, but the Ohaimman Mr D. P. W'lilliiams thought ithie scheme would1 be unworkable in practice. It was sltateJd that the Teachers' Association for the county had unanimously deoi-ded against the right of entry, and Pirofieiss!or Morris Jones argued that if adopted the. plan wonld not solve (tihe difficulty. The result was thiat, whiille Mr Davias's objects were warmly ciammendied as weilllas the spirit in, which he had stated them, his proposal itself was rejected by twelve votes against six. Even these items eto rjot exhaust the public, interest in the subject or the difficulties arising in cotinedlion with religious instruction. All Bofnitnewydid, in Carnarvonshire, 96 out of 170 children have been withdrawn from rialiigiouis MUSiBruction, and. tihe school arrangements have to be recast in consequence In Miontg^caiaeaiysihire', as a result of the refusal of the Ford e n Board of Guardians t o levy educa- tion rate, the County Council on Friday decidiad to inform the Guardians that unlelss they colledt the rate precepts Will ibe issued1 to (the over- seers and 10 per cent aiddield for collection. As to the. proposed concordat for Montgom- eryshire, the public reference to the majntea: this week by the chairman, of the Central Welsh Board appears to have been partly nxsunder- stoiad.

Llanfair v. Llanberis.

Llanfair v. Llanberis. (North Wales Coast League). (BY "Cymro.") f Llaxfair had hitherto occupied the position o wooden-spoonists in the above League, having played only four matches, one at home with Ban- gor, and three away with Colwyn Bay, Bangor, and Portmadoc, respectively. All these games were lost, but it speaks well of the Llanfair defence that in all four games with the above-mentioned League giants, 13 goals only were registered against this young team. This being so, the pre- sent encounter was eagerly looked forward to as an opportunity for capturing the first points of the season. That expectations were fulfilled is a source of gratification to the supporters of this organisation. The teams were as follows Llanfair Goal, D. J. Williams backs, R. Ellis and W. Evans half-backs, C. Ollosson, W. Space, and G. Thompson forwards, H. Pretty, R. Evans, W. H. Pritchard, 0. Jones, and E. Hughes. Llan- beris Goal, G. Henry Jones backs, Robt. LI. Hughes and Bob Edwards half-backs, W. J. Williams, R. Roberts, and W. Jones; forwards, W. Thomas, Rhys Jones, Ellis Parry, R. D. Evans, and E. Ll, Hughes. Referee: Sergt.-Instruclor Hunt, Conway. Llanfair won the toss and elected to play up the slope, commencing hostilities with ten men, Pritchard not turning up to time. The Llanberis men immediately made their presence felt in front of the home goal. From a drive by D. Ellis, 0. Jones got possession, and by means of some neat passing the home forwards made some progress. E. Lloyd Hughes, the visiting outside-left, obtained possession and made tracks for the Llanfair goal, finishing up with a sjiot which few goal-keepers could have stopped. Thus the visitors were one up. From the restart the Llanfair left wing were conspicuous, the ball however going into touch. Hereabouts Pritchard put in an appearance and things began to liven somewhat. The efforts of the homesters became much more determined in character, the forwards especially shewing up well, and causing the visitors' defence a deal of trouble. End to end play followed, both teams exhibiting at times some very pretty football. Pritchard, from a pass by E. Hughes, eluded all opposition and finishing with a telling shot, put both teams level amid much cheering. The interval came shortly after, and the team once more lined up, the visitors now having their turn up the slope. From the restart the home right worked the ball well up, H. Pretty finishing with a good attempt, which went wide. From the goal-kick the visitors got possession, and worked well up into the home halt. A miskick enabled them to get through, and a goal: seemed imminent, but C. Ollosson managed a very ser- viceable clearance. After some end to end play, the home forwards commenced to exert pressure on the defence, causing the backs to repeatedly kick into touch, which tactics the spectators characterised as Bangor Style," why, I fail to understand, because all teams indulge in it when hard pressed, whether rightly or wrongly. Several corners were conceded to the home lot which, however, were non-productive. After a brief visit on the visitors' part to the home half, W.H. and his men again got moving, and Pritchard seeing an opening worked the ball almost up to the right corner flag, from which point he centred finely, 0. Jones having no difficulty in heading in, thus put- ting his side ahead, and giving the visiting custodian no chance. The game now attained its most interesting point, the visitors seeming deter- mined to draw level, and the home lot quite as eagar to increase the lead. Nothing however re- sulted, and a good game ended in favour of the homesters by 2 goals to I. +
