LLANDDOGET. The Easter vestry was held on Thursday evening week, the Rev J. P. Evans, recto: being chairman. Colonel Higson, Plas Madoc, and Mr W. Williams, Post Office, were reappointed lay representatives at the next Diocesan Confer- ence. Mr W. Williams, Post Office, and Mr W. Jones, Ty Coch, were reappointed churchwar- dens. The attendance at the Easter Sunday services was very good, as well as the number of com- municants, all those lately confirmed partaking of the Holy Communion.

Local and District News. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENTS.] Lord Mostyn. has decided net to accept the chairmanship 'of the Llandudno, Council for a second year. It is expected .that Lady Julia Lowtlaer's marriage to Mr Duff, of the ist Life Guards, will be patronised by Royalty. On Tuesday, the Countess of Dundcnald and her (family left Gwrych Castle for Permian Square for the season. Owing to the ,continued indisposition of the Duchess of Westminster the visit of the Prince and Princess of Wales to Chester during race week has be'en cancelled. Colonel Henry Platt, C.B., of Gorddinog, has bought the residential ancf sporting estate of Gruinards, in East Ross-shire..Thei estate gives 'good grouse shooting and salmon fishing, while the residence, which is of modern cory- struction, is a very fine one. A'handsome window has jus? been presented to the St. tnary's Roman Catholic Church, Wrexham, by Lady Ffrench, in memory of her husband, the late Lord Ffrench. The window was designed by Lady Ffrench herself, and is one of the most beautiful in the diocese of Menevia. On Saturday Mr and Lady Florentia Hughes, Kinmel Park, Abergele, celebrated their golden wedding, The rejoicings were confinedl to the z, family circle, amongst those present being the Hon. Mr and Mrs Brodrick, Coed Coch; Mr and Mrs St. John Charlton, the Hon. Mary Hughes, Captain Hughes, and 'the grandchil- dren. Robert Morris, boatman, Barmouth, charged by Sergeant Owen with being drunk on the 12th inst., was fined 5s. and costs and ordered to be placed on ilic black list, this being his fourth offence within the last twelve months. Edward Morgan and Edward Jones, farm servants, Dyffryn, were charged with trespassing in pursuit of game in Cors-y-Gedol Woods on the 22nd and 29th of March. Mr Prys Owen, having the sport- ing rights over the woods, retired during the hear- ing of this case. Mr Guthrie Jones, Dolgelley, ap- peared for Mr Owen. Jenkins, Den- bigh; African Institute, morning, II, service; afternoon, 3, service, student; evening, 7, service. LOCAL ARBITRATION CASE.—On Monday morning Mr T. B. Farrington, engineer, Llan- dndno, sat at the Council Room, Station-road, to hear evidence and arbitrate in a case between Messrs Lee and Booth, painters, and Mr Alfred Book. The plaintiffs were represented by Mr W Dutton, solicitor (from the office of Messrs Porter and Amphlett), and Mr Dew, solicitor, Banjjor, watched the case on behalf of the defendant. The plaintiffs orignally had an account against defen- dant for the sum of £ 201 55. 7d. for work done to certain property. Tudgment had been obtained for the payment of £34, and it was the balance of £ 167 5s. yd. which formed the subject of the arbitration. Several witnesses were called for each of the parties. Mr Farrington reserved his de- cision. DEATHS.—On Thursday last1, at his resi- dence, Penrhos Lodge, Colwyn Bay, the death took place of Mr W. S. Seddon, a well-known resident in the district. The deceased gentle- man, who was the only son of Mr Seddon, of the firm of Sale, Seddon and Lord, solicitors, Manchester, was .seized with ,a stroke on the previous Saturday evening, and, despite the best medical skill, expired on 'Thursday as stated. The funeral, \v'hic,h was private, took place at the Parish Churchyard on Saturday last. Mr Seddon had resided in Col- wyn Bay for upwards of 20 years, and his genial disposition had endeared him; to. a large circle of .friends. COLWYN BAY AND DISTRICT SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION EXCURSION. The schools have decided upon Liverpool as the destination of the .excursion this year. The trip is to take place on Monday, .May nth, and it is hoped that the shopkeepers will extend the same generosity to. their assistants as hitherto, by giving them a 'whole day's holiday to enable them to participate in the excursion. The great attraction at Liverpool on the date se- lected will undoubtedly be Buffalo1 Bill's Wild West Show. All information regarding the trip may be obtained from the secretary, Mr J. O. Lloyd, Pendorlan. FORTHCOMING CONFERENCE. — The North Wales Federation of the Evangelical Free Church Councils, will hold their meetings at Colwyn Bay on April 28 and 29. The first meeting of the conference will be held on Tues- day at 7 p.m., when an English sermon will be preached at the Congregational Church by Rev J. M. Gibbon, of London, and Rev John Williams, Liverpool, will deliver a Welsh ser- mon in Horeb Welsh Wesleyan Chapel. The following day at 9-30 a.m. the executive com- mittee will meet in the schoolroom of Ivngedi Chapel. At II a.m. a Welsh public meeting will be held in Bethlehem C.M. Chapel, under the presidency of Rev Owen Evans, D.D. A paper will be read at this meeting by Rev T. Shankland, Rhyl, on "Sabbath and its Claims." At 2 p.m. in the English Presbyterian Church, an English public conference will be held, pre- sided over by Rev Griffith Ellis, M.A., Boo tie, and! a paper will be read on "The Noncon- formist Conscience," by Rev J. Hugh Morgan, Liverpool. The final meeting will be held in the evening at Engedi Chapel, when the chair will be taken by Mr J. Herbert Roberts, M.P. John Grif- fiths, returned to the parish on Wednesday evening, after a short holiday. EASTER SERVICES.—There was the usual large attendance at the Easter services at St. Catherine's Church on Easter Sunday, there being over three hundred communicants. The services were rendered in a bright and happy manner, and were thoroughly enjoyed1. The interior of the church was most beautifully,' decorated with flowers, etc., the work 'having been accomplished by the following ladi-es Mrs Ellis Davies, Miss Horrocks, Miss Lloyd, the Misses Pendlebury, Miss George, Miss• Jenkins, Miss Daisy Jones, Miss Webb, Miss Ellis Jones and pupil, Miss Winifred Pryce Jones, and Miss Gladys Stubbs. Flowers and foliage were also kindly sent by Mrs Bagnell, Miss Horton, Mrs vVildilng, the Misses Tackson, Mrs Jenkinson, Mrs Lloyd, Tanycoed; and Mrs Pryce Jones, Minafon. Alderman Joseph Jones was unanimously appointed chairman for the ensuing year, and Councillor Henry Lloyd vice-chairman. A vote of thanks was passed to Alderman Joseph Jones for his past services, and for the interest he had taken in the affairs of the parish. County Councillor Robert Evans, Mohrcroft, Old Colwyn; Councillor Henry Lloyd, and Councillor Owen Evans, Fernant, were .appointed overseers; and Mr Thomas Jones, Gwyndy, Colwyn Bay, was re- appointed .assistant-overseer and clerk to the Parish Council. CAPEL GARMON. The annual vestry was held on. Thursday, April 16th. The financial statement for the year showed a. balance in hand of £ 6 4S 7d. The vicar nominated 'Mr John Jones, Bronfeaw, as his warden, and Mr Robert Hughes, Bryn- tirjon, was elected as the people's warden. The lay representatives to the St. Asaph Diocesan Conference are Messrs George Bovill and John Jones.

LLANDUDNO. THE annual Easter vestry at Llandudno was held on Thursday evening. In the absence of the Rector (the Rev Llewelyn Hughes), the Rev 'Robert Williams, B.A., senior curate, was elected to the chair. Mr Richard Conway gave an account of the distribution of St. Thomas's charity, whereby 42 poor people had received part of the charity, which was distributed by the Rev R. Williams an< Mr Conway. The Chairman presented the church ac- co.unts, which showed; that the r-eceipts amount- ed to CI,383, which was a substantial increase on the previous year, notwithstanding the fact that the offertories on the North Wales Coast generally had decreased during the year. The offertories 'at St. George's Church amounted to £ 326 10s iod, -as against £ 208 in the previous year; at Holy Trinity, ^741 93 ud, as against £ 677 last year; and at St. Tudno's Church, [,II5 5s 90, as against _fl20 last year. A de- ficit on the account 'at the N.P. Bank had been reduced from £ 230 14s 9d to £II2 os 9d. The chief items of expenditure were clergy, £ 619 7s, as against £ 532 last year; organist and choir, rl140 15s iod; cleaning and attendance, £123 5s; -National schools, -C58 improve- ments and repairs, £ 24 is; lighting and warm- ing, ^56; books and printing, £24 193; poor, £ 16 17s 4d. Mr Richard Conway proposed, the adoption, of the accounts, which he considered very satis- factory. Mr Littler seconded, and after Mr Conway had! answered some questions on the accounts they were carried unanimously. Dr Dalton was appointed Rector's warden, and Mr R. Conway people's warden. -On the motion of Dr Dalton, seconded by Mr George Evans, dt was decided that at the next Easter vestry any sidesman who had not at- tended half the services which he was expected to attend would be struck off the roll. The following were proposed and accepted as additional sidesmen(Messrs Wi-lliam Williams, Orme-terrace Vincenti Walker, H. A. Bonnallie, J. II, Rees (Lloyds IDank), A. Jones, A. Ellis, —. Morrison, C;arrett (Llovd-street), James Smith (Victor House), A. Margetts (Abbey Dale), IHoare (N. P. Bank), —. Powell, —. Linton (Gloddaeth-crescent). This list was adopted, on the motion of Mr Conway, seconded by Dr Dalton.

The vicar took the chair, and: re- viewed the work of the past year, and mentioned the great loss the Church and parish had sus- tained in the death of Mrs Sandbach, Hafodu- nos. There had been an increase in the num- ber of Easter communicants, and also, in the offertories. Mr Wm. Jones read the statement of accounts, which showed a deficit of over 64. £4. The vicar nominated Mr D. Roberts, Hen- dreddu, as his warden, and Air H. Barnwell was elected as the parishioners' warden. The following we-tp elected as ?.lc!?smen Colonel Sandbach, Messrs W. Barnwell, H. J. Roberts, E. Roberts, Wm. Jones, J. P. Mait- land, D. Jones, D. O. Jones, J. Hughes, Edwin Evans, and Willie Davies. Colonel Sandbach and Mr Edward Roberts were elected lay representatives of the parish at the diocesan conference. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mrs Sandbach, Bryngwyn, and Miss Sandbach, for subscriptions and various gifts for the church. Mrs Wynne add Mr D. The Vicar appoi-n'ja,d Mr Joseph Winter, chemist, C'raigydon, as hi's warden, and on the motion of Air Bone, seconded by Mr John Jones, Glanaber, the Hon. Henry Lloyd Mos- tyn was appointed people's warden. The Vicar appointed Mr C. J. Wallace as chapel warden for Deganwy, and this was ap- proved by the vestry. The hearse account was submitted, showing that £8 5s had been collected, and £ 8 spent. .T,I-ie cbaritNI accounts were submitted, show- ing -thai the vicar had received from th'e St. Thomas's charity £7 8s 7d, to which he had addled is sd, makirfg a total of £7 10 s.
