Conway. THE Rev. Llugwy Owen, M.A., D.D., and his 1 imily, left Conway on Monday to take up his new duties at Colwyn Bay, where his son, Dr. J. Lioyd Owen, also resides Though a man of a very retir- ing, studious disposition, Dr. Owen's influence upon local life was more pronounced than one would imagine. As most of our readers are aware, he held the pastorate at Carmel Church for some I years when lie first came to Conway, about 30 years ago, and during that time, and subsequently, he held numerous positions of honour in connec- tion with both the religious and social organisations of the town. His many friends will join with us in wishing him and his family every happiness in their new place of abode OBITUARY.—After a somewhat short, though painful illness, Mr Vaughan Edwards, formerly carrying on business as draper in High-street, passed away on Saturday in his 35th year. This is the third bereavement suffered by Mrs Edwards during the past few months her two little children having also been lost to her recently, within a fe.v weeks of one another. Very great sympathy is therefore felt with Mrs Edwards in her additioual bereavement. The funeral took place at the Cemetery on Monday afternoon, many being present as a last mark of respect for the deceased, and to evince their sympathy with his widow.

Deganwy. GYMNASTIC DISPLAY AND COMPETI- TION.—The second annual gymnastic display and competition was held at the Deganwy Clubroom on Wednesday night, the president (Mr C. J. Wallace) occupying the chair. The following took part Messrs W 0 Hughes, Robert Jones, E Moriarty, D H Morgan, A!f Pusill, and II Lancaster (under the direction of Mr Bert Kuslnvorth). Good work was shewn on the parallel bars, horizontal bar, and the horse, whilst the mass exercises were gone through in a smart manner. Mr Rushworth was in great form, and performed magnificent combinations of slow and swinging work on the apparatus. The winner of ihe British amateur championship at the Crpstal Palace against the pick of Great Britain in 1897 and 1898, it is not too much to say that as a gymnast his equal is not to be found in the Principality. 'But it is as an in- structor that he shines, and the wonderful pro- gress shewn by some of the pupils at the recent displays given by the Conway Town Gymnasium and the Conway Boys' Club, gave sound evidence of his abilities in this direction. Indeed, some of the lads have been heard to remark that they will try any feat if Rushworth is watching them. The competition for the Deganwy championship resulted in a win for Mr Harry Lancaster, who takes the president's challenge cup a second time— another win, and it becomes his property. Mr Jack Pusill pushed him hard throughout. He takes the medal for the running up. The follow- ing were the scores Lancaster Parallels, 10 horizontal bar, slow work, t6 swinging work, 19; dumb-bells, H) high jump, 6 rope climbing, 8 2 total, 78.] points. Pusill Parallels, 16 horizontal bar, slow work, 10 swinging work, 9 dumb- bells, 20 high jump, 7 rope climbing, 8 total, 69 points.—COM.

DASTARDLY DYNAMITE OUTRAGE.—On Sunday morning last, about 10 a.m., a loud rep )rt was heard in the vicinity of Me!yn-y-coed, about a mile from the town. Several ala, iiied neighbours made a search for the cause, and it was found that some evil disposed person or persons had set some dynamite in the river stream close to the Hour mills, and as a result several splendid fish were killed and strewn about the banks of the stream. The river authorities have the matter in hand, and it is hoped they will be able to bring the perpetrators of so inhuman an act to pay the penalty of such recklessness and wanton destruction.
