In October, 1908, the Mayor (Alderman D. W. Jones) asked the Committee to assist him in relieving cases of distress in the Cyfarthfa district. His Worship undertook to collect subscriptions and started a Mayor's Fund. The Members of the Society worked indefatigably, visiting and granting cards for food, coal. Ac. ¡ By careful distribution the Ladies were sure that their relief benefited the poor homes where the gifts were badly wanted and much appreciated.
