General Booth celebrated his eightieth birth- day quietly on Saturday at Hadley Wood. The Prince of Wales sent him a congratulatory message. I At the Independent Labour Party Conference at Edinburgh on Saturday an animated discus- sion took place on the proposal that no salary be paid out of party funds to members of Parli- ament who refuse to sign the constitution of bho party.
