The proceedings partook the form of de. votion, addreeBes, end singing. The Rev. W. J. Morris, minister, speaking in high terms of praise ot the estimable characters of the young men named, and wished them all p j^sible happiness and prosperity in their new homes. BAND OF HOPS ENTBRTMNMENT.— On Thursday evening, the 10th inst., at the Peuuel Vestry Room, Pontypridd, an enjoyable entertainment was given •"in connection with the Band "t Hope of that place of worship. The chair was occupied by the Rev. W. lowis, minister." There w,s a numerous company present, and interesting addresses were delivered by the several deacons ot the chapel. Tnoman, White Hart Inn, -was successful in obtaining a certificate for proficiency in shorthand from the Phonetic Institution at Bath on the 15th inst. ILLNESS OF MRS YEo.-A correspondent writing on Monday, says-0 i Sunday evening Mrs Yeo, wife of Mr T. Yea, the chief secretary of Messrs Cory, Yeo, and Company, was suddenly taken ill at St. Winifred's Church. Penrhiwceiber, and after being removed home remained unconscious throughout Sunday night, Drs. Jones and Bvans are in constant attendance. The inhabitants of the neighbourhood evince the deepeBt sympathy, inasmuch as Air and Mrs Yeo have, by tneir kindness and amiability, won universal res pect. Mr Yeo was on Sunday away, staying with his son at Neath, but immediately, on being communi- cated with, he started to drive home, concluding his journey on Monday morning. MUSICAL MEETINGs.-On Monday the members of Jerusalem Independent Chapel held their annual mnsical meetings. The choirs belonging to Bethanis (Dinas), Salem (Llwynpia), Zoar (Clydach Vale), Ebenezer (Tonypandy), and that of Williamstown Independent Chapel, took part on the occasion. Several hymns end anthems were rendered with fervour and precision. Eos Morlais conducted with his usual ability. The chair was occupied alternately by the Reva T. G. Jenkyn, Llwynpia, E. SPECIAL MEETINGS.—On Sunday and Monday the members belonging to Jesusalem Baptist Chapel held their annual special meetings, when the Revs C. Griffiths, of Bristol (formerly of Zion, Merthyr); Charles Davies, Liverpool; and Pritchard, Tonyre- fail, preached impressive sermons to large congrega- tions. Mr Joshua Lloyd presided at the harmonium, and Mr J. Jones (Alaw Gwendraetb) conducted the singing. REMARKABLE TRAP ACCIDENT AT TON YSTRA2. MIRACULOUS ESCAPE OF THE DRIVER. On Thursday morning, the 10th inst., a serious trap accident happened at Ton Ystrad. David Bowen, milk-vendor, was about to serve one of his customers with milk when suddenly the pony took fright, and bolted away at a furious pace. When near Bethesda Chapel the animal dashed into a greengrocer's shop, the property of Mrs Morris. Bowen was pitched through the window, and thereby received painful injuries to his head and back. Panes of glass of large size were smashed to pieces. The horse bolted off the second time, and the trap came in contact with the corner of a wall near the English Congregational Chapel, and here the horse freed himself from the trap, and was not seen for some time afterwards. The venule was smashed, and the milk chum emptied of its contents. The incident caused considerable stir. Bowen is an industrious and respectable man, ind mach sympathy is felt for him in his sad trouble.
