11OUNTAIN ASH LOCAL BOARD. The fortnightly meeting of the Mountain Ash Local Board was, held on Monday when there were present: Mr Thos. Edwards, in the cbair, Mesara Jas. Phillips, J* Long, Jiobt. Evans, J. Griffiths, W. L. Herbert T. Yeo, C. J. N. Gray, and N. Phillips.—The Chairman stated that with referance to the flashing chambers for which the contract had been accepted at the last meeting they had a better plan in the opin- ion of the Board, and he suggested that the question should be deferred until next meeting, so that their Surveyor should be present.—This was agreed to.-It was agreed that the Question as to the proposed site of the slaughterhouse Ynysybwl, and also the question of the in-, sufficiency of the gas should stand over until the Surveyor returned from his holiday. F THE PROPOSED HOSPITAL. The Clerk (Mr H. P. Linton) stated that he, had written to the Local Government Board asking them what modifications they wanted in the plans of the proposed hospital. He had received BO reply. SURVEYOR'S REPORT. The Surveror's report was read as follows;— "Gentlemeo 1—with respect to the application made at your last meeting by Mr Jones, Mount Pleasant Inn, Miskin, for a lamp to be fixed- on the old Llanwonco Road, II beg to report that I will submit a plan and recommendatt ons respecting the same at the next meeting of your Board. 2-1:beg to report that there are many new houses in the district which require numbering. I should be pLased to have your instructions respecting the numbering of the same.-3 I beg to report that upon the advice of your Clerk the work of constructing flushing chambers has been suspended. I will report fully upon the matter at the next meeting of your Board.-4 I beg to report that I have received the following building plans to which I do not see any objections viz (1) Mr Wm. Lewis r draper, Treharris, of shop and house to be built at: Augustus Street, Windsor Town,"Ynysybwl. (2) From Dr. D. R. Morgan, Ynysybwl, of a. house to be built in Clive Street.Windsor Terrace, Ynysybwl. (3) From Mr Wm. Williams of additions to No. 2, Quarry Road, Mountain Ash. —I am, Gentlemen, your obedient Servant, S. O. Harpur, Surveyor, August 23rd, 1886. The Surveyor was authorised to require the com- pletion of the numbeiing of houses. All the plans mentioned in .the report were adopted. MEDICAL OFFICER'S REPORT. The Medical Officer reported 19 cases of enteric fever during the fortnight. The majority of eases existed in Henry Street, and Glyngwyn Street. He had not been able to discover the cause of the outbreak yet., but he hoped to be able to account for it by the next meeting. There had been one death registered from enteric fever siuce the last meeting. STREET WATERING AT FENRHrwtlclBxn Mr Yeo proposed and the Chairman seconded and it was agreed that the Surveyor he ins- tructed to make enquiries as to the terms upon whieh Messrs. Nixon, or the Penrhiwoeiber Water Co., would supply water for the watering of the streets at Penrhiwceiber. ALLEGED OVERCROWDING. Mr Long, asked weather there was any report as to overcrowding in the town, and the Clerk stated that there was no repert.—Mr Long, remarked that he bad been told that there was overcrowding at Nos 83 and 34 Glyngwyn Street—The Inspector of Nuisances was in- structed to report upon the matter. GAS AND WATERWORKS COMMITTEE'S REPORT. Upon the recommendation of the Gas and Water Committee, the Board decided to agree to the appointment of Mr G. F. Hill, Manchester as arbitrator in deciding as to the value of Messrs Nixons waterworks and part of the gas works. The Committee stated that Messrs Nixon had agreed to the appoiatment.—Messrs. Stephenson & Son were appointed to superintend the erection of the new gas and waterworks at Mountain Ash.—The Chairman stated that' the agreements with reference to these works had been drawn out and were ready for the perusal of any member of the Board.
