Welsh Progressive Policy in East ■ Carmarthen. I A meeting for East Carmarthen, including the Llanelly Boroughs, in connection with the Welsh Progressive Policy on the Education Act was held' at Eheinezer Oliapel, Ammam, ford, on Wednesday of last week. There was a large attendance of delegates, and Mr Dd. John Jones, Ammanford, presided. The meet- ■ ing, which was convened in pursuance of the Welsh National Council's decision, (plaSSed the ■ resolutions agreed upon at similar district conferences, to the, effect that at the local elections every seat, should he contested in the interests of the Welsh Progressive nolicy, H and that no Labour, Liberal, or Nonconfor- ■ mist organisation or elector should counten- H ance or support any candidate at the forth- ■ coming local and Parliamentary elections who ■ would not definitely pledge himself to that H policy; and that a representative committee ■ or committees be formed in each education area to assist in prov iding candidates and H securing their return. H A clauise in one resolution, expressing the view that no aldterman should be elected! on ■ afly Counail except from the ranks of direct ■ representatives of the people, the Rev T. H Thomas, Llangadock, moved to eliminate. ■ Tlxey had, he said, good aldermen on the ■ County Council, and if they were not placed ■ on the Education Committee Tories: would be ■ put there instead. The Rev Towyn Jones ■ declared that the aldermen on the Education ■ CSomoniittee were the worst men in Carmar- I thenshire (loud cheers). The Committee had ■ two many aldermen on it (loud cheers). ■ These, if they submitted themselves as candi- ■ dates at the election would never be returned. ■ Rev W. Davies, Llandilo said he did not think ■ there was any alderman present excepting ■ himself, and he had for the last 30 years in a ■ nest of Toryism, done his best for Nonconfor- ■ mity. The Rev Tow-yn Jones said he did not ■ refer to Alderman Davies. I Mr W. H. Hughes, Pontypool, was deques- I ted to address the meeting, and in the course ■ of his speech said that W^alest was; fighting the H battle of British Nonconformity as it had ■ never been fought, before. I The list of County Council members; wab I gone through and it was decided that an the ■ districts of those objected to committees be ■ formed with a view to obtaining the defeat of ■ these members at the poills, should they seek I re-election. During this time, the doctor attended me, and when I did manage to get. up and go about my work, I was compelled to use a stick to walk. I was seized with intense pain every time I attmp- ed to move, and although I kept on taking medicine, I got no better.
