DENBIGH- THE HAY HARVEST. The hay harvest in thu Vale of Clwyd has commenced. The crops are verv light this year owing to the lack of rain in the eariy pit), of the season. SERVICE AT WHITCHURCII. The usual service was h-Id at Whitchurch on Sunday afternoon, when there was a crowded congregation prPsent. The Bishop r.f St Asaph, was the special preacher, and ha delivered a, very interesting discourse. EXTRAORDINARY WEATHER. This week we have been favoured with some extraordinary weather. Oij Wednesday even- ing a severe thunderstorm, preceded by a heavy shower of hailstones passed over the Vale, and yesterday (Thursday) some torreutial downpours of rain, accompanied by Fome heavy claps of thunder, wero the order of the day. HUNG UP Putvcli this week has an excellent cartoon depicting the Prime Minister hanging up the Welsh rabbit (ticketed ■4 Welsh Disestablish- ment ") in the cold storage room. Uuderneath are the words:—"Mr Asquit.h (to Welsh Rabbit) Afraid you must be hung up, but you shall come out first thing nexo year, if you're good!" Ib is said that the Welsh) members do not appreciate the joke. FIRE During the early hours of Sunday the fire alarm was given, and about 3 30 a.m. the fire brigade arrived on the scene of the fire, with the I haudeart," and found that the stables, in the occupation cf Mr Edward Jones, and belonging to Mr Thomas Jones, grocer, Hand Shop, Henllan-street, situated in the rear of his premises, were in flames. After a plenti- ful supply of water had been steadily poured 011 the flames, the fire bubdued, and finally was got well under control, and extinguished. It is thought that the fire commenced iu the loft, where there was a quantity of hny, but luckily put out, before the main building was reached. --= -=--===--=-=_:=-=- SUCCESSFUL "OOMISJ^MN W At the J'orrester.-i F £ to fastii As*Pr yesterday, R E Jones, ESjttffiSasfs-atzwsRf;, surf Edwards, the Asylum, wwa QØIIV petitors in flit racing and. iTT CRiGEJFiT- ri .ie valo of Clw\c( (Th'ir^dny), pla}ed the geo at Shrewsbury, and owing ta u&z. d suited in a draw.
