ENORMOUS SALE OF BARA BRITH.—Mr David Williams, confectioner and grocer, Denbigh, calls attention to the great popularity of his Currant Cake, as shown by the enormous Christmas sale, he having during three days sold between GOO and 700 lbs of it. CHRISTMAS DINNER TO WORKMEN.—Colonel Hughes gave the whole of the work-people on the farm and estate an excellent Christmas dinner, accompanied by all that makes up a good feast, thus fallowing out his practice for many years past. The guests highly appre- ciated the Colonel's generosity and the kind attention paid to them by the Misses Hughes on the occasion. Dia-L,ugsiox.-An interesting discussion took place in connection with the Fron Chapel Literary Society, on Monday evening, on the question "Ought ladies to have a parliamentary vote." PITY THE OUT-CAST CHILDREN.—Doctor Barnardo has many things of interest to tell in the December issue of Night and Day," and the magazine will assuredly repay perusal by a wide circle of readers. The well-known Homes. with which the name of Dr Barnardo has beer; I so many years associated, have clearly not yet exhasted their mandate. Far from it indeed, for it appears that nearly five thousand rescuec boys and girls are to-day within their walls and that on an average eight new adrnissiom take place daily. The pictures from photo graphs which stud the pages of "Night am Day," show from what a needy class the adplicants are drawn. Dr Barnardo's stor) A. He was sentenced to 7 days hard labour. When the prisoner was about to be taken down to the Railway Station he refused to walk, with the result that he was packed on a handcart and taken thereon to the station to the amusement of f.U who witnessed the scene. Needless to say a pro- cession of young folks escorted him, and- enjoyed the joke. TEA AND SOCIAL MEETING.—Mr and Mrs J Harrison Jones, Trefeirian, are in the habit of giving tea to the children attending the Band of Hope in connection with Pendref Chapel, and the same was given on Monday evening. Needless to say all the children came together, and greatly enjoyed themselves. After tea a social evening was held under the presidency of Mr J Harrison Jones, when a long and varied programme was rendered, including singing, recitations, competitions, discussions, &c., and the choir, under the leadership of Mr Robert Davies, Park-street, rendered excellent music. Miss Jeanett Powell, Vale-street, and Miss Mary Williams assisted with the children. The bride was given away by her step-brother, Mr Rowe; and Miss E Porter acted as bridesmaid. The best man being Mi- Harry Rowe. The ceremony over, the wedding party adjourned to the hoase of the bride's parents, where breakfast wa3 partaken of, and shortly afterwards Mr and Mrs Bartley departs on their honeymoon, amid many lnanifescfatiCjaB of good wishes and respect. The wediftrg presents were very numerous and costly, and were much admired. Great interest was taken in the wedding, the bride's family being so well-known and respected in the district. CHRISTMAS SERVICES.—The services at the Churches on Christmas day were very largely attended. There were three celebrations of holy communion, at 7 a.m., 8 a.m., at St David's, and after morning service at St Mary's. The communicants were very numerous. St Mary's Chuich was most beautifully and appropriately decorated. A magnificent now altar cloth of white satin, most elaborately and delicately embroidered, was used on the com- munion table for the first time, this being the handsome gift of a lady, a member of the congregation. At the morning service the Rector preached for the first time since his illness, the sermon being full of interest and very appropriate to the season. In the even- ing at St David's, Mr Thomas delivered an appropriate discourse. At the close of the service the choir sang in a very pleasing man- ner two carols, the verses of one being taken as a solo, and sung excellently by Master H Davis, son of Mrs R Arthur Davis, the congre- gation being very pleased with the rendering thereof. CHRISTMAS FESTIVITIES AT THE ASYLUM.—On Monday last the Christmas dinner and. dance was held at the Asylum. The interior of the inside building was decorated with great taste and beauty by Mr C M Humphreys.
