LOCAL NEWS. ATTRACTIVE EXCURSIONS.—The G.W. Railway ad vertise trips to Pembroke Dock and Swansea, the Midlands, etc., for next week. ACCIDENT ON THE TRACK.—While training on the cycle track at the Park on Wednesday evening, Bertie Andrews, the successful local cyclist, had a bad spill, and bruised his body severely. The exact cause of the accident appears to be unknown. RETURN FROM CAIP.-Thc men of the Carmarthen C Squadron of the Pembrokeshire Imperial Yeomanry returned from their eighteen days' training in camp at Penally on Friday last. The men, who were under the command of Capt. Grismond Philipps and Lieut. W. Morris, Coombe departed from Tenby about fonr o'clock and arrived at Carmarthen Junction at 5.45 p.m., alllookin fit and well. For the first few days in camp the weather was very unfavourable, but lat- terly the meteorological conditions were all that could be desired. CARMARTHENSHIRE INFIRMARY. The Secretary bogs respectfully to acknowledge the receipt of the following Mrs Higgon, Ffynone, C5 periodicals, Mrs Erskine, 12, Morley-xtreet; Miss Jones, Post Office, and Mr James, Bridge-strees: illustrated paper and flowers, Mr J. Miller, Parade fruit, Mrs Price, Priory-street, and Mr Liekley, Queen-street; t M, Langford, 2, Claremont Villas. TOTAL ABSTINENCE.—Meetings in connection with the British Women's Temperance Association were held on Sunday afternoon and evening at Lammas- street Chapel Schoolroom (kindly lent for the occasion). In the afternoon, the chair was taken by Mrs Jones, Hyfrydle-terrace (president of the Carmarthen branch). There was a large attendance of children of the differ- ent Sunday Schools. The principal speaker was Miss Haveley, of London, organizer of the B.W.T. Associa- tion. Miss Haveley treated the subject of temperance to the little ones very plainly.—In the evening at 8 o'clock, the chair was taken by Mrs Pugh Evans, who was supported on the platform by Miss Spurrell, Mrs Jones, Hyfrydle-terrace, and Miss Haveley, of Lon- don. Mr Edmunds of Water-street, undertook the devotional part. The attendance at this meeting was very meagre, notwithstanding that notices were sent to every chapel in the town. Not even a single min- ister was present. Miss Haveley spoke for upwards of 30 minutes, and strongly appealed to professing Christians to give a helping hand to put down intem- perance that was so rampant in those days.—On Sun- day evening next another meeting will be held at th6 Salvatiyn Army Barracks, when speakers from Swin- don, &c., will address the meeting.
