The date of the meeting has not yet been announced. Messrs Thackeray and Co.'s weekly report is as follows P.s.ils.-A little more activity has prevailed generally in the market for South Wales Rails during th* week, and Ordinary Stocks have been better inquirlJd: for. Attention has again princi- pally centred in Rhymueys. which have again been a somewhat fluctuating: market. At the opening a few transactions took place at 244. but later in fcbe week the price hardened, and a fair amount of business took place at prices rangmnr from 249 to 252. LONDON STOCK EXCHANGE.
LONDON STOCK EXCHANGE. LONDON, Thursday. The Money Market is without any new feature. Heavy gold shipments from New York are promised on Saturday, and further remittances will no doubt take place, the ultimate effect of which vyill be to increase r the easy tendency at the turn of the year. Until then a fair inquiry for money may be anticipated. Loans were in moderate re- quest to-day, and were quoted at to 1 per cent. for short periods. Discounts, without being active, were firm, and three, four, and six months' Bank bills were negotiated ab 4 1 per cent. Trade bills—three months were 1J4 four months, 1 y2 and six months, 1% per cent. Paris Cheque Exchange is 25.33. The changes in the Bank of England returns are of no particular importance. Internal requirements for money have apparently increased, as note circulation has increased £154,160 and bullion decreased £148,046, making a loss in reserve of £302,206, whilst the proportion to liabilities has fallen from 60 83 to 60-09 per cent. Public deposits increased £818,257, and other deposits decreased £577,030, whilst other securities are £531,213 heavier. The Reserve now amount to £35,656.415, being an increase over last year of £10,819,131, whilst the stock of bullion, which is £44,576,535, shows an increase over 1894 of £11,214,146. Stock Exchange Markets opened in a very sensitive state, and further developments of the Venezuelan question were awaited with uneasiness. One effect of President Cleveland's message has been to almost entirely stop business. Dealings must not be measured by movements in prices, as there was practically nothing doing, and American Railways were all but unsaleable. The fall in this department was again very severe, and in other markets weakness was more or less pronounced, hut in the after- noon a rally occurred all round on the report that the American Senate would not pass the resolution authorising the proposed commission on the Venezuelan boundary question. Following the receipt of this 'news, there was some return of confidence, and a propoition of the decline was recovered, the close being more confident. Consols closed at 106% to 107 xd. for delivery and account. In the Foreign Bond Market there has been a distinct heaviness.
