LONDON STOCK EXCHANGE. LONDON, Wednesday. The position of the Money Market has not practically altered. The new creation of two millions Treasury bills announced for Monday next will take £ 1,000,000 off the market, as the sum maturing is only £ 1,000,000. Loans were very little wanted, and were quoted at x/i per cent. Discounts were rather steadier. Three Months Bank bills were taken at ii to per cent. The Paris Cheque Exchange is 25'16. On the Stock Exchange business doing has been very moderate. Realisations have caused some reaction from yesterday's prices, but no special movements have occurred. Consols closed at 96 í's to 97 for delivery and account; 2%. per Cent. (Childers') 98% to 99% 3 3% per Cent., 96 to 96%. Local Loans Stock, 103 to 103%. In Foreign Bonds business has remained quiet. Spanish again formed the feature, they having been down to 63, but buying was then renewed, and the price closed at 64, or better than yes- terday. Portuguese were rather dull. Egyptian and Turks were weak. fItalian were tolerably firm. Hungarian and Russian were quk,t. Greeks were to 1 easier. Very little was done in South Americans. Argentines were flat, and to I lover. As a rule British Railways were inactive, and there were occasional exhibitions of weakn&ss. Scotch Stocky were, however, firm. Traffics on these lines were satisfactory. On Caledonian there is an increase of £ 2,643, and on Nortb.British £8.346, making a total gain for the half-year of -127,087 and £ 43,350 respectively. Except for a loss in Midlands of £ 1,100 other traffics showed an increase. North Eastern had an increase of 22,871, Sheffield of 22,080, Great Nor thorn cf -0268, Groat Western of £6,050, South Western of £ 4,228, and North-Western of £1,81t. Heavy lines closed steady. In the Lancashire and Yorkshire report it is shown that the percentage of expenses to receipts was 57*04, against 57'14 per cent. last year; whilst Hull and Barnsley worked at 63*11, against 61*67 percent. The statement of the Manchester and Sheffield Com- pany shows that up to July 24th there was a loss in net revenue of 22,802. Deferred Stock was rather easier. Great Eastern fell 1/4. Brighton A feU to458, but rallied at the class to 158%, shor. ing a loss of on the day. South-Eastern closed at 70%, or lower than yesterday. After being 69 Metropolitan receded a little. In Great Northern the percentage of expenses to receipts was 61'07, against 60*83 per cent. The American Railway Market has been weakened by realisations. Atchisons, Mil- waukees, Denver Preferences, Louisvilles, Eries, Readings, Union Pacifies, Wabash issues, and some others, left off at n decline of to Grand Trunks fell to and Canadian Pacific Shares were lower, Mexican Railways were quiet and easier. Ordinary fell and Second Preference i Mexican Debentures rose 1. The Nitrate Market remains neglected, and there is scarcely any change in prices. Bank Shares were steady. Allsopp Ordinary and Preference fell 1, J. and P. Coats rose Elmore Copper, Gas Light and Coke A fell 3; Imperial and Continental, 1. Trust and Insurance were quiet. Debentures, Foreign Railways.—Fall—Mexican Ordinary and Second Preference, The Mming Market is dull. Rise—Cape 1 Copper, Yi > Mysore Gold, h. Fall—Burma Ruy, 3d Gold Fields of South Africa, Jubilee, fg Knights, 3d Oceana Land, Rio Tinto, and Thai-sis, At.the Bank £59,000 were received from South America, £10,000 from South Africa, and £11,000 from Bombay, &c., making the gain for the week of £433,000. Silver remains quiet. Bars, 39fid; Dollars, 38f6d. Indian Council sold 12 lacs of bills on India at Is 5d. Eastern Exchanges were quiet.
