TENBY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. MISSIONARY MEETING. The annual missionary meeting in connection with the Tenby Presbyterian Church was held on Tuesday evening, when the deputation was Miss Lilian Jones, of Wahiajer, Assam, India. The deputation is the daughter of the Rev. John Jones, the senior missionary, born and brought up on the "mission field, and has a brother and sister mis- sionaries in China. Miss Jones made an excellent deputation. Being familiar with the customs, social and moral of the natives, she was able to give vivid pictures of the degraded condition of the heathen, and the miraculous changes produced by gospel missions. The local report was given by Mr Edwin Llqyd, the secretary of the church, who made earnest appeals for a more liberal support of Home and Foreign Missions. The Rev. D. F. Rittenhouse, M.A., B D., of San Francisco, pre- sided over the meeting, and delivered a stirring opening address on the claims of missions on our home churches. There was a good attendance, and the earnest addresses delivered were highly appreciated. The pastor (the Rev. B. Lewis) on behalf of the Church and congregation thanked the deputation and chairman for their earnest and able addresses. The meeting was dosed with prayer.

Williams, M.A., one of the curates of Tenby, has been offered the living of Dale, Milford Haven, by Lieut.-Colonel Lloyd Philipps, who is the patron. The annual sale of work and entertainment in aid of Dr. Bernardo's Homes, which were announced to take place at Tenby on November 24th, have been postponed until after Christ- mas. With regard to the statement made in a con- temporary last week, that through the instru- mentality of the Tenby Town Council Mr Joshua Richards's recent act of heroism had been brought under the notice of the Royal Humane Society, it should be mentioned that the Chief Constable of Pembrokeshire had the case in hand, and upon information supplied by Ser- geant Alfred Thomas, of Tenby, placed it before the Society. Mrs Cobb, the hon. secretary of the Ladies' Guild in connection with the Milford Haven 'branch of the British and Foreign Sailors' Society, has received a letter from H.R.H. the Princess of Wales promising gifts towards the great nautical bazaar to be held this month in aid of the furnishing fund of the John Cory Sailors' Rest and Bethel. The Prince of Wales is patron of the society. The intimation has given great pleasure to the workers. Little Lulu Williams, the popular Tenby child dancer, who recently scored such a brilliant success at the Cardiff Palace, and has been specially engaged by the Moss and Stoll Empires, was one of the artistes engaged at the annual charity banquet of the Cardiff Branch of the United Kingdom Commercial Travellers' Association last week, and after her "turn," which was enthusiastically received, was pre- sented with a choice bouquet by Lord Ninian btuart. 000 The annual Automobile Exhibition in con- nection with the Motor Industry is being held at Olympia, London, from Friday, the 12th inst., and continues till Saturday, the 20th inst. Visitors are invited to get in touch with Mr A. W. Randall, of The Motor House," Tenby, who will be pleased to conduct them over the various stands, and explain all technical details in regard to any particular model. Mrs Croker Walsh, 5s. q In memory of Louis Lewis, fisherman, of Southsea House, Frog Street, Tenby, who was drowned at sea on October 23rd, a memorial service took place at St. Julian's Mission Church, Tenby, last Saturday evening, and was largely attended. The service, which was con- ducted by the Revs. J. D. Fowden and W. Seeker, consisted of portions of the Burial Office of the Church of England, with suitable hymns and an address, the latter being delivered by Mr Fowden. The family of the deceased wish to express their grateful thanks to Miss Milward, Mr Fowden, and Mr Seeker for 80 kindly arranging the service. The Rev. D. F. Rittenhonse, M.A., B.D., of San Francisco, has consented to deliver his popular lecture, entitled "Rainbow Chasers," next Wednesday-evening, at the Congregational School-room, Warren Street, Tenby, at 7.30. Mr Rittenhouse is a popular lecturer, and has lectured on various subjects in the United States. Admission free no collection. The interest in the flying machine appears to be as keen in Tenby as in other parts of the country, and their are already several gentle- men in the town engaged upon the task of constructing models, the parts for which in several cases have been supplied by Mr A. W. Randall, of The Motor House," who has secured the agency for Tenby for the minature motors, propellers, accumulators and other parts necessary for the construction of these models. Mr Randall is open to give technical advice to any gentlemen that will assist them in their attempts. »>♦ Messrs. Edwards, of Pembroke-Dock, the popular and esteemed District Superintendent of the Prudential Assurance Company, Limited, was on November 1st returned at the head of the poll as a member of the Town Council, a unique feat considering that he has only been a resident of the town for a year and nine months, and only qualified as a burgess on the day he was elected a councillor. Mr Edwards, whose experience of municipal life is a wide one, he having been a member of the Aberyst- wyth and Cardigan Town Councils respectively, polled nearly a thousand votes, a remarkable and noteworthy performance at the first time of asking. He stood as one of the two nominees of the recently-formed Pembroke-Dock Rate- payers' Association, who carried everything be- fore them at the last election, and upon the declaration of the poll was enthusiastically ac- claimed by a crowd of four thousand persons, hoisted shoulder high, and escorted home, the immense procession being accompanied by a brass band, whose inspiring strains of "See the Conquering Hero comes" aroused the crowd to a high pitch of excitement. Mr Edwards, who has many friends in Tenby, is a fine speaker, a man of strong convictions, and has a high conception of what municipal government ought to be.

POLICE COURT REFERENCE. HIGH TRIBUTE TO THE POLICE. Mr Councillor Charles Farley, who on Tuesday vacated the position of Chief Magistrate of the Borough of Tenby, the duties of which high office he has discharged with great tact and impartiality, presided over the local Bench of Justices for the last time as Mayor on Monday morning, when occasion was taken by Mr Edward Laws, the senior magistrate, to make a happy and fitting allusion to Mr Farley. Before they began their sitting, said Mr Laws, he wished in the name of the Bench to bid the Mayor good-bye, though they all hoped that this was not the last time he would sit there as a magistrate or as a mayor. (Applause.)—jMr Farley, in acknowledging Mr Laws' remarks, said he thanked his colleagues for the assistance which they had given him during his year of office. He also thanked the Clerk to the Justices (Mr G. Lort Stokes) for the great help he had extended to him at all times, likewise Superintendent Thomas, who had given prompt attention whenever he (the Mayor) had required the services of the police. To Sergeant Alfred Thomas and the constables under him he extended his best thanks, as he had received from them every attention and assistance. He thought that Tenby ought to be proud of having such a man as Ser- geant Thomas in charge of the local police; the way in which he had conducted cases brought before that court proved him to be a very efficient and capable officer. (Applauses-Superintendent Thomas returned thanks on behalf of the police, and said that whoever Mr Farley's successor was they would endeavour to do the same by him as they had done by the present Mayor. (Applause.) —During his year of office Mr Farley made him- self very popular with all classes, and presided over the deliberations of the Council with such tact and diplomacy that the meetings of the Cor- poration ran smoothly and without friction. His appointment as Deputy-Mayor has given great satisfaction in the town, it being generally agreed that he was of all the members of the Council the one most entitled to this distinction. Although Mr Farley has vacated the civic chair and ceased to be Chief Magistrate he has the privilege of sitting on the Bench for the following twelve months.

CONFERENCE AND PUBLIC MEETING AT TENBY. In connection with the Church of England Temperance Forward Movement a conference and public meeting were held at Tenby yesterday. At three o'clock evensong was held at St. Mary's Parish Church when the Venerable the Arch- deacon of Brecon (Archdeacon Bevan) delivered an appropriate and interesting address relative to the Temperance question. An hour later a con- ference and tea were held at Peerless' Hotel, when many helpful points were discussed. At the public meeting, held at eight o'clock in the Royal Gate House Assembly Rooms, the chief speaker was the Archdeacon of Brecon, who is one of the most popular and successful of Welsh Temperance advocates. He delivered an excellent and con- vincing address and was accorded a most cordial reception. The Rector of Tenby (Rev. N. Chet- wode, M.A.), who takes a deep and practical inte- rest in the subject of total abstinence, presided.

"MAURETANIA" AT FISH- GUARD. Amidst genial sunshine the Mauretania entered Fishguard harbour at one p.m. on Monday, and disembarked over 303 passengers and 1000 mail bags. The Mauretania was away within 41 minutes. The mails were transferred in ten minutes from the liner to the tender, the whole debarkation beating all previous records A Press correspondent interviewed Mr J. G. A. Leighman, American Ambassador to Italy who referred in glowing terms to the Fishguard route, and the comfort and smooth expedition of em- Contr.; ?-„H- MoWthe American consul at Amsterdam, and Colonel Millard iiunsiKer, were with his Excellency, and spoke in equally appreciative terms of the route. Mr Morgan acknowledged himself as a Welshman and was delighted with the brightness of the surroundings. They were unanimously of opinion that Fishguard had a great future. This was Mr Morgan's forty-fifth trip across the Atlantic and the first by Fishguard. Owing to bad weather en route the Mauretania was an hour behind her usual time, the average being 25.36 knots per hour. Among others who debarked were Mr H Gordon Selfridge, of the noted London firm. ^—a
