THE DOAN INVESTIGATION. EVIDENCE FROM SAUNDERSFOOT. Our investigations into the cures of kidney and bladder troubles by Doan's backache kidney pills reported in the Tenby press some years ago, are continued to-day, and it is gratifying to find that the same hearty spirit continues to prevail. Those who told of their cures years ago stand by them to-day. Miss M. Morgan, of Wooden Hill, nr. Saun- dersfoot, Tenby, says:—" For twelve months I suffered a great deal with pains in my back they were particularly bad when I stooped and tried to straighten myself afterwards. HAVERFORDWEST OVERDRAFT. REDUCED BY jEtooo LAST YEAR. QUARTERLY MEETING OF THE TOWN COUNCIL. The Mayor (Councillor Isaiah Reynolds) pre- sided at the quarterly meeting of the Haverford- west Town Council held recently. The Surveyor was instructed to invite tenders for the erection of fourteen working-class houses in Prendergast. The Mayor explained that there was no intention of dropping the City Road site, but it was thought advisable to prooeed with the Prendergast scheme first.

THH ROAD GRANT. The Mayor announced that a special meeting of the County Public Works Committee would shortly be held for the purpose of dealing with the Corporation's olaim in respect of the Bridge Street footpaths, and he had no doubt that there would be a satisfactory outcome of the dispute. The Surveyor had made out a bill of the total amount expended-on the main roads in the borough. This amounted to abont JE490, and Colonel Ivor Philipps, the chairman of the Main Roads Committee, had stated that the County Council were liable for any moneys properly ex- pended on these roads. It was for the Town Council to substantiate their claim.

THE riNAKCIAL POSITION. The financial statement for the past quarter was read, and the Mayor said the overdraft now stood at JE1497. During the past year the over draft had been reduced by no less than JS1000. The finances of the Council were now in an excellent position. They were better than they had been for many years.

EKBIOUS WAST. OF WATIR. Mr Llewellin asked as to the quantity of water the Portfield reservoir was capable of holding. The Surveyor—About 170,000 gallons. With our present rate of consumption it is very little over one day's supply-it is not one and a half days'. The Mayor thought there was a great deal to be said in favour of a constant supply. At present people left their taps on during the night, with the result that there was a great deal of waste in the morning. Mr Hugh Thomas asked whether it was not a fact that the average supply of other towns was 17 gallons per head, and that the consumption in Haverfordwest was 30 gallons per head. The Surveyor said that was so. Mr Llewellin thought the time had arrived when that state of affairs should be stopped. He did not know what could be done save a thorough examination from house to house. The recommendation of the committee for a thorough inspection of premises was adopted.
