Mr. Disraeli, addressing the electors at Buck- ingham on Tuesday, observed that the general election was now virtually over, and that its effects were most satisfactory. Among other cheerful ligns of the times, the Conservative leader pointed out the fact of some working men, selected with great discretion, having been returned. To Mr. Disraeli's mind, the result of the elections is tanta- mount to a justification of his reform legislation, and at the same time a most decided proof of the numerical strength of the Conservative workmen, whose very existence was once called in question. Referring to the subject of education, Mr. Disraeli laid the 25th clause must be regarded as a symbol of the whole question, those in its favour being for religious, and those against for secular education.
