CERHIG-Y-DRUIDION. UWCHALED AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY. THE ROOT CROPS COMPETITION. To THE SECRETARY. Acting on your instructions I visited your district on the 16th. 17th. and 18th of October. I am very satisfied with the Competition, there was not one of the entries that I should have any hesita- tion in awarding a First Prize to, if there were no better. Taking into consideration that it has been a wet season, the competitors have been very successful in keeping their crops clean. I would suggest to the several competitors the desirablity of growing only suitable plants for the locality. This can only be arrived at by experience. Premium 4. P.S.—I should like to make a suggestion to this effect. If the Seed Merchants will again offer similar prizes to those of this year they should make a stipulation such as that made by the Manure Mer- chants, viz., that a certain area should be sown with their seeds. At present, some of the competi- tors only devoted a very small plot to certain seeds.
