I have again made a valuation of the assets of the Chatham Building Society. The balance of profit certified by the auditors is C16,777 to this I have added the value of deferred premiums £4034, and he balance of contingent reserve account, and interest in arrears £ 371 -making a total ^"21,182, or 613,962, after deducting the dividend of £ "] per cent. and all expenses to date. At the end of 1865 the reserve of premiums was Z820 in excess of the required amount; in 1866, dis- counting at the same rate of investment, the excess was Z2077 and this year it is £2461, indicating a steady improvement.
